I've been behaving lately mate
I saw a couple of nasties over the last two weeks... 2 minutes earlier and it could have been me. The way I figure it lately is that if I go a little slower I will always be 2 minutes or more behind and therefore cheat destiny... unless destiny is late as well

I know hindsite/hindsight whatever, is a good thing, we al use it, but what about foresite/forsight, if we knew where and when we are going to die/get injured or whatever, would we still go there, knowing that was/is our destiny?? and talking of destiny, destiny angel was some hot chick.

The M6 Northern Relief Road just opened today. I think it cost £200M [ 18:35hrs just read it was £900M??!]

Cars will be charged £3 and HGVs £8.50 + VAT. Why do I think the HGVs might just stick on the M6?

It'll be interesting to see how many vehs use the new m'way. We can then work out how long it will take the 'owners' to recoup their investment.

No doubt the info will be 'commercially confidential' and Joe Public won't be told when they get into profit. Just like the Skye Bridge. The gov't won't tell the islanders how long it will take for the tolls to pay off the costs??? Commercial confidentiality when public money is concerned???

Who on receiving a speeding ticket through the door carried out his legal obligation to complete the reverse. There are two options;

1) Admit you were driving
2) Give the name of the person who was driving

In this case, being a law abiding citizen he is, he provided the details of the driver which happened to be his cousin who was here on holiday from Venuzuela or Columbia or some other non-extradition treaty country.

"Personally officer I have no time for law breakers so I hope you extradite him!" "Of course I thoroughly checked his licence, international driving permit and his insurance details." said my friend.

I was of course horrified to hear this, this tactic could be used by other less honest people to avoid speeding fines after all, it's impossible to prove otherwise unless you admit it.

Not really Pongo, I would ask for his details and check with immigration to see when he arrived or through the relevant Embassy.

You would naturally have informed your insurance company as well so again its a simple phone call to them.

Just pay the fine!

I wouldn't neccesarily have informed my insurance company, I would have ensured that he was covered under 3rd party risks under his own policy though.

I have heard of this working once or twice before, basically because the police can't be arsed to follow up the story...in the 10 minutes to find out if he's telling the truth they could've got £60 off 10 other drivers instead of chasing one.

In general I dont agree with people blowing things up but in this instance -Top man!!

yes, i`ve seen a couple on the A14, between the M1/M6 junction (J19) and the A1 at Huntingdon. Thing is, Dougie Bader doesn`t fly that route anymore

That's about it in a nutshell. I was flashed (for the first time) on the A303 at Yeovilton haring my way down to CTC last Thursday night - nothing else on the road, 50mph for no obvious reason, but it's a fair cop. The crack with old oppo's and a few scoops weighed heavily on my right foot (but not that heavily I hasten to add).

To cap it all, I was pulled (again for the first time) literally yards from CTC's gate on the Friday because my passenger (no names) hadn't yet done his seat belt up. Had to produce my docs at Ashford nick who (swamped with illegals) were a bit peeved at having to pick up and process the dutiful officers paperwork - muchos applications to the Devon constabulary for jobs from the stressed officers of Kent methinks (their words not mine).

Not making a point, just rambling and posting a general drip, now....where's me old pushbike.....

Sully, they are thinking about putting the speed limit up on the motorways, and reducing them near schools etc, but at the end of the day, as you say, if your copped, your copped, endex. I feel that putting the speed limit on motorways is a good move, as everybody`s exceeding 70 anyway, and with todays braking systems on cars, the braking distance is greatly reduced compared with the vehicles in owdun and JR`s day (Sorry guy`s, do you still have the red flags?) but in built up areas, there is no excuse. personally, i just set "TOM" to the relevant speed, and hopefully, that should save me.

My car's brakes are arse my friend (hence I generally drive like an old dear) but even I have a half mile stopping distance which would have seen me alright on the night in question. I'm all for safety on the roads and curtailing the activities of some of the knobbers around (of which, I, unfortunately, am now officially one )
