You don't need to do a 10 mile tab before joining. The tabs start off short and not that difficult so just do some running and you'll be fine.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but it is relevant to me. Pretty much you guys just recommend running without bergens and raising my fitness gradually? I should only start worrying about runnin with weight when Im in the forces?

The fitter you can get your self the easier it is, if you can afford to go to a gym try that for while just build up your overall strength
