65 press ups, 70 sit ups, 16 chin ups, and 1.5m in 8 minutes.

I'm skinny as a rake though so that might have something to do with it!! :lol:

Yeah, didn't want to opine on this since I only really have the 4 PARA perspective, but I know our lot don't give a toss about perfectly bulled boots as long as they're clean and halfway shiny. I would imagine Depot aren't much different. Besides, you aren't really going to get much of a bull from boots which are ripped up from field exs, leopard crawling your way around camp and, y'know, proper soldiering. :D

PS Those are good times mate. As long as you have enough muscle on you to survive tabs, no reason you shouldn't go all the way. Just remember to take your sense of f***ing urgency!

Age means nothing when you turn upto depot. your all shitstains no matter who you are or where you've come from. I'm 17 and they didn't treat me any different to the older jo's.

Excellent. Wouldn't want to be treated differently. I'm quite happy to b a shit stain for 6 months (and then another 6 months when i get to battalion)!! :lol:

Is it worth taking a 'smart' shirt and shoes in the 1st 6 weeks if you aren't allowed out of depot? Or do you need to be wearing them if you want to leave for the night on parents day?

WOW Jump Freak that is a good amount of press ups you can do. Im just like you skinny as F**K and having real trouble with my press ups can you share some wisdom how you got to 65 please. :D

Not really any secrets mate apart from shite loads of practice. There aren't any get fit quick regimes that will work mate, just practice, practice, practice. If you are struggling, there might be quite a lot of info in the bootneck section. Every other thread seems to be about 'the perfect press up technique'!! :lol:

if you type press ups in the search thing, it will bring up hundreds of threads on various types to do to improve yourself. How many of them work i dont know, but might be worth a shot mate.

i wouldnt worry about press ups pal you'll get plenty of practise at them when you get here and as for bulling boots i dont even know what that is and ive made to week 16 without a bolloking so wouldnt worry about that either the hardest thing in my mind is the tabs if you havent got the build to carry the bergan then youre going to struggle but thats just what ive seen in my platoon one of the guys has legs like tooth picks and just couldnt get the bergan up them hills and he wanted to get to pcomany really bad and put alot of effort in but it just wasnt enough and he's ended up getting back squadded .over all i find if you work hard in the aeras that are important in being a good soldier i.e. out in the field,fitness,signalls,and map reading they tend to leave the gay stuff like immaculate uniform and shiney boots alone they leave that at to the guys who like to guard a piece of tarmac outside a big house down london way.

Now now, have some respect; Guardsmen are fine soldiers too, and it takes months of training, deprivation and hard work to look like such pretty little girls. :wink:
