Many European governments have some form of compulsory military service for its citizens. Certain exceptions are given for people working in essential industry or studying.
Full time military service I would like to see become mandatory however it is clearly not an option. But some form of part-time reserve commitment would be excellent for the health and discipline of the nation.

Just caught this weeks installment. And once again I was laughing to myself all the way through espeicially at the "Exercise Long Drop" which was supposedly "The culmination of airbourn training" (something like that anyway) - which we all know is rubbish, to even try to compare that little jaunt in the tree tops, whilst harnessed up might i add is a far cry from something like the trainasium which is featured in P-Coy.
Really does make me laugh watching these supposed hard mens mincy faggot balls shrinking when they are faced with a 10 ft drop or the sight of a skinned rabbit.
Next week looks like it should be good with 3 escape attempts!!
Keep on truckin,

Great laugh on Tuesday, I felt for the blokes on the roof when they were blind folded, especially Oddjob. I supose having a torch shined at your cacks is better than the suspect looking rubber glove the Sergeant was wearing! I'm most definately eagerly awaiting the rest of the Series, to see if they do infact change their moral compass a bit.

Bad Lads army is staged and the people there just want to be on TV.
I couldn't see any sort of military service working in this country, our laws are too PC and there would be a limit to what could be acheived. And I'd have serious reservations if I was a full time soldier and I had someone that was of dubious background or that had no real interest in being there covering my back.
Besides I'd rather see money that would be needed to set that sort of thing up spent on new helicopters and on the troops that willingly put their lives on the line.
I agree with Dwarfy, there are other methods that could help get people off the streets and away from trouble making, without forcing them into the military.
And tougher sentancing, more prisons, life should mean life, no out in half the time for good behaviour, just total punishment, it would put off a lot of the individuals that take their chances with crime because they know the justice system is messed up.

Here here Borisimo.
Just time extended for bad behaviour.
Some of the lads on there who had been to prison said that prison was easier then bad lads army.

There's got to be something amiss there, what we need is a satisfactory prison bitch scheme like they have in America, that'll make prison less fun.

Slightly off topic, but relevant at the same time.
A friend of mine recently witnessed his girlfriends, brothers and neighbours cars being vandalised outside his house by some 8-10 youths; ages ranging from about 15 to the oldest who was 19 (and was the one doing most of the damage). His brother, his dad and he all went out to confront them (and I must add they have exceptional will power not to have given them a good kicking). Police were called, etc. etc.
This lad (the 19 year old ringleader), it turns out, is well known to the police and has spent 2 short spells inside for vandalism already.
What is really annoying me is that whether he goes to jail again or not, we (the taxpayers) are paying for his punishment. If he gets fined, he can't pay it because he is on the doll and all that will happen is that his doll will get reduced slightly. If he goes to jail (which apparently doesn't bother him) he has a roof and 3 meals a day on our time.
WHERE'S THE JUSTICE!?!?!

very true, they do these things because they will only get a slap on the wrists, but if capital punishment was brought back to the uk i'm sure it would be a very different story, but because of all this human rights nonsense it will never happen.

The lads embark on survival training. As paras they must learn how to survive out in the wilderness at any cost. In the absence of running water they must use mess tins to wash each others' difficult to reach bits, and they have to forage for food - worms and insects are on the menu. Their first church parade proves an emotional time for Private Bourne, who weeps for his late father. That evening's sleep-out is the last straw for Privates Jensen, Smedley and Woodforth - who make a run for it.
Just thought I would stick this description of tonights episode up because it mentions survival training which somebody was chatting about in another thread - although I would leave your note pad and pencil behind because it is sure to be as out of touch as the rest of it (admitadely it is supposed to be 1950's so cant blame them lol)
Not too sure about the washing other people hard to reach bits though!!

please somebody tell me that this is just 1950's way of field hygene and isnt still practised today lol.
