Can anyone tell me is training for 21 and 23 sas the same as for 22 and is selection the same?

Also do 21 and 23 were the beige beret and if not what colour is it?As for the sbs I know it`s the green lid but does it represent the sbs or the royal marines?

Hey Padre just found a better site for the Army Ranger Wing www.military.ie/army/arw.htm. This should be of some use to you and get yourself a subscription to the Irish Army magazine An Cosantoir lots of valuable information.

Garryowen I was on that site before .It`s very informative alright but again there`s no real information on the selection course.The most info I saw was on the gign webite and it gave detailed information on the unit etc,etc... but it was closed down.
Did you know the pass rate for selection is 15%?
Anyway it`s only recently I found out that the unit wore the geen beret.
I get an cosaintor regularly the last thing on the rangers was about the ctc
competition in germany.
As with 22 sas what do the units train with each other in? Black or green operations?

Regarding the SF competition held annually by Nato, plus the French. Back in 1970 something, 22 were tied up in Oman. So four patrols from 23 volunteered to join in the fun.

They were from B sqdn (Leeds) and D sqdn (Dundee) in the end a patrol from D sqdn won fair and square. BUT when the French heard that we were reservists, the effluent hit the rotating object. The event was being hosted by the Belgian ESR/GVP an SF unit since renamed, to their credit they told the garlic eaters to get stuffed and gave the jocks the shield.

Mind you the jocks cause was not improved by their cheerful rendering of 'Were Fahren Gegen Engeland' (which was sung by the Luftwaffe on their way to bomb London.

I still have a lovely pewter plaque hanging on the wall, presented to the runners up.

Yeah I heard about those exercises that NATO hold .It seems to annoy the yanks more when there beaten by the TA.Rumour has it the last was held by the germans at their winter warfare place somewhere in Bavaria??
And well the TA triumphed in alot of the competition much to the annoyance of the americans who found it quite hard to take the fact that they were being beaten by part time reservists.

It is published twice a year and is available ONLY to members of the SAS Regimental Association, also each copy is numbered and is to be treated as 'Confidential'.

Oh and what's the regimental mag for the SBS?
