Jason. You could ask me also...I'm in B Company Green Howards in the Tyne-Tees regiment. I'll tell ye know now...
Press-ups 45
Sit-ups- 55
1.5 Mile - 10:30 Mins
Bleep test - around level 10 Ish
These can vary but pretty much on your first weekend away they'll make sure you gain the attitude to get to this standard (Its the Very basic they want you to be before going on to Phase2 training which is your 2 week CIC Combat Infantrymans course) Some of the guys did the 1.5 miler over the 13 minute mark and got told to come back in a few months time after they had been training. Some guys binned their fags on the weekend in a mission to get fit. The PTI's will tell you what to work on and get you on the right track.
Its not the Just the fitness to worry about. They make everyone get up infront of all the other recruits and talk about themselves for 5 mins or so and get asked questions afterwards. Some guy from our company got up and said he enjoyed wearing gothic clothing and painting his nails black and that he was Bi-Sexual...that didnt go down too well

RobT is that to get green in everything. They didnt want to tell us the scores so we would go flat out and not stop when we get so far. You have to show improvement each time you do a BPFA while training so some people dont go all out so its not so hard the next time. Im too competitive though.
Im in the Rifle Voluteers, A company, which is Royal Gloucester, Barkshire and Wiltshire regiment. Battalian based in Exeter. Company based in Gloucester.
Got CIC training next which includes a 2 mile walk with a load, not sure how much but my boots are really comfy so it'll be easy.

Erm, Yeah to get Greens you need those sorts of figures.
P.S you'll be doing a BFT which means full load and tabbing/run for 4 miles in 55 min's
So doing more than a few miles

We didnt do the bleep test on mod1 due to lack of PTI's which is unusual ain't it? I think around level 9.5 -10 would be fine but don't take my word for it
Yeah i've been realy enjoying it, far better than being sat on my arse

. Last night was spent playing footy and getting paid to do it

How good is that.
What would a RGJ TA unit do differently to all the other TA units? Because in our regiment C coy is the Light infantry guys and they do the same as us.

I dont think we have to do the bleep test, havent sone it yet anyway.
Im loving the training so far, turned up testerday and found out that they just bought back an end of month run. Nearly the whole two hours running around the local streets. Enjoyed it still though. The only thing i was gutted about was missing Arsenal beat Inter 5-1, come on!!!
The 4 mile in 55 mins isnt until RT 4 for us and the one we do next is like a warm up hence the smaller distance. As far as i know anyway. We have a light infantry company from Somerset in Rifle Voluteers regiment. Told us that their marches were different, its done faster and you end up waddling like a duck. Havent seen it myself this is just what i was told.

I thought you were infantry? No? The warm up we do is the same distance as the real thing. To be honest i think the BFT will be easier than the 1.5 mile because i'm a big bastard and heavy weights on my back dont bother me that much.
But yeah the LI guys do things differently when it comes to marching and drill. A LI warrant officer called the rest of us (Green Howards and Fusliers) Thick bastards because all our orders get barked out when the LI guys just get one command and do about 4 movements

I am infantry but i guess our training is slightly different, i could be wrong. I'll find out next weekend. I dont mind doing the weights either, rather do that than the 1.5 run.

RT2 out the way, no more class lessons for me now. All in the field! Unfortunatly i now have to wait til mid January for RT3. Went down to the 25m range at the Marine training centre (its about 10mins from our HQ) and fired off a few, great fun! RT3 is all about zeroing and learning to shoot so i cant wait.
As far as carrying a load, you dont carry a full load til RT4 or 5. Then you carry 55 pounds for 4 miles in an hour. RT2 has an introduction to carrying a load, mine was about 25 - 30 pounds for 2 miles.
Is anyone elses set out differently?

spacecadet I was told by my recruitment officer that joining the TA would be a good idea and it was him who broached the subject. (Oh whens your RCB briefing mines in March-sorry off topic) As far as joining the TA, I think it's going to be a problem for me I work for Comet and I think trying to get weekends off for it will be a problem.
