Without wanting to take anything at all away from what has been posted, it must be noted that the Corps own advertising campaigns recently have been focussed on winning the Green Beret of the Royal Marines Commando. As with many things these days it seems history is confined to the waste bin (do you still get Corps History lessons at Lympstone?!). It has become the icon of the Corps, and that is the root of the 'reintroduce the blue beret arguments.' Misunderstanding, not lack of appreciation.

Well the CO brought it up when the CG was last here, about 3/4 weeks ago. He didnt seem to like the idea

Would that be the moomin-faced bog-trotting Spencer? If so I'm surprised he's still in - he used to struggle to pass his BFT as a sprog(ish) captain 14 years ago. Does he wear his green lid with pride? Complete tool.
