Just take your average permanent black marker fer chrissakes.
do you just go into peoples posts and quote them and give sarcastic replies?
not being funny but people posting on these forums are just wanting advice and guidance so theyknow exactly what they need to do and also if they have there questions answered i am sure they will feel more comfortable with going to attend there training etc.
and if anyone disagrees with me posting this i am not sure i would want to use these forums anymore

thanks dawber

Druadan's point was that people are getting way too hung up on the details.
It really isn't going to matter what thickness of marker pen you have, what particular brand of padlock, which shop you bought your bungees from etc. If you have everything that is on the kit list you will be fine. Everything else is just our suggestions on what we found useful when we joined up. If it was an issue, all these things would be specified on the kit list.

I know it's pretty stressful, but we've all been through it, and no-one ever got kicked out for having the wrong thing! So just chill out...

Dawber,

If you cant take a bit of sarcasm then your going to find training a very stressfull experience. If you ask fairly pointless and somewhat unimportant questions which the 'marker pen' one was (no offence Adam :) ) then you are going to be met with a sarcastic responce. However its all in good humour and not vindictive, it will be like water off a ducks back after a small time. In reality druadan has answered adams question by saying, 'the size of the marker pen doesnt matter mate, crack on'.

As hyperlithe says, the tiny details people are trying to gleam from this thread are not worth the effort, i understand that i would have asked these before training if not told otherwise as i know you want to get everthing right beforehand, down to the smallest detail. There is nothing wrong with that, BUT now you are being informed that as long as you have the stuff on the list, the brand/type/size doesnt matter a great deal unless its clearly stated on the kit list.

Its not the end of the world if you turn up and something in your kit isnt quite right, you will be pointed in the direction to get the correct kit.

You'd be losing out if you let this get to you and stopped using the forums, they are very worthwhile.

Well it's not all I do, I am multi-talented

Hypers and Dwarfy have pretty much said all that needs to be said on the subject. If you read some of my other posts besides the two you've picked up on you'll find I'm actually quite helpful most of the time

Hey what colour pants do i take? joking..

I believe this list is actually to big! where do we place all the kit we're not using after/during kit inspection and room inspection... there's only so many holes you can poke it.

You'll be surprised how much you can fit into a military locker if you do the layout as you're shown...
You should have some kind of baggage store room as well, but that will also have to be kept clean and tidy with everything in it labelled.
Don't worry about it, it all works out, thousands have gone before you and they managed!

Cheers, it was boggling my mind for ages, the amount of kit my cousin has taken to the engineers and i ask 'how do you get it all in you're locker' and all he says is 'I don't 'so where do you put it' 'you'll see'

Off topic, I heard the plastic patch in you're beret makes you go bald? true? false?

Er, really wouldn't know!
Did take that out of my beret once away from a training establishment, just because it can get a bit sweaty in the sunshine (if we ever get any) and can get a better shape without it. Definitely DON'T tamper with the inside of your beret while you're still in training though!

I got the AA, uses lest batterys and you can get an accessory pack for it so you get a red and blue filter, also can tape up the attachment without getting tape all over your torch lol.

(link removed by Admin) (DPM AA one is £12, cheatpest place for AA i found)

On another note, how long do we have to wait for our berets? and when we get them do they have our chosen regiments cap badge? cheers.
