The incident mentioned by aes69 regarding the live Rapier Missile on the wall is true however I must make it clear that the unit concerned was RAuxAF Regt and not a regular squadron.

This has no bearing whatsoever on the level of gooberism that allowed it to happen but I am certain you all understand that NO opportunity to slate the Oggies must be allowed to pass - EVER. Especially as one of my long term oppos (Regular) was on the Sqn at the time of the discovery. Oh how he received some!!

Yep the 42 lads certainly now are aware of the Bearers of the Mudguard!!

It is fair to say without sounding like a right hooper that the set of blokes from 42 working with us were a top bunch. There were a few goobers, suprisingly they were from an org that I would have expected higher standards from but were right up thier own chuffs which was a shame as they certainly let the rest of their Coy down.

ANYWAY, being the old git that I am I ensured that all the booties went home knowing that they had served with a Rock, a proper one, not some tired adage that is being talked about but never seen!!

There are many dits to spin (I HATE Jackspeak) but as is right and proper, what happens away, stays away. Just let it be said that they had a good time socially.

PS I will be travelling to Norton Manner at some point to give a brief and will be expecting to be hosted in the Mess as befits my God-like status. I know this will result in all sorts of drinking buffoonery and I will lose but I am prepared to suffer for my Corps.

Blimey, I thought this thread had been put to bed long ago, but since I've found it again, and since I've popped in after my long travels around the internet I'm willing to match wits with any scuffer (a bit of a one sided battle but I'll risk it for a biscuit ).

I worked in conjunction with the RMP in Berlin for a number of years and on the whole they were decent blokes and we could count on each other to 'watch the 6' in a fight or other incident when providing backup. We even orchestrated windups together, us providing the bait as we would not be so 'obvious' to the RMP receipient.

Some younger lads turned up to provide cover for the close down parties and managed to get involved in a fatal RTA, a german civvie died, not only spoiling the celebrations but turning the whole population against us after 40 something years good work and genuine appreciation.

The bloke was miles off his area and racing to get back to answer a call, jumped a red light.

We all have 'em!

As for the glass palace it's more of a conservatory on the back of my house but it's easy to make a mistake - you're plod after all

An officership would be lovely though, are there any vacancies in the plod branch? I've got an o-level in art and with such a fine education I think I've got a future with such a fine bunch of men, and women, and German Shepherds, and let's face it, you could do with a bit of leadership
