I agree mate tarmac is different treadmill running is ....forgive me...Easy.Scooter wrote:Keep up the good work mate, sounds like you have the right approach. One thing I would suggest is ditch the treadmill and start pounding the tarmac. It is a whole different story. A much better and far less boring one.
Good age mate.....Up your running... longer distance runs....cut calorie intake drink plenty of water...unfortunately you are going to have to start what is called Hard Routine. It will discipline your mind and body to physical endurance and stamina...you need this mate if your serious..I gaurantee all hard work now will pay off....freestyler_onli wrote:Im 20-just turned.
Sorry but 10mph equals a 6minute mile. Therefore around 9:14 for a 1.5mile run if you include the warm up. So I dont see how you did it in 8:36 at that speed.freestyler_onli wrote:Yeah no sweat A SQUADRON 21- no offence taken. i know i weigh too much- when i passed my Met police day 2-they did a BMI test. Tehn i was 6ft and weighed about 15st. Thats was a BMI of about 28.2/3-even still-i thought i was a bit heavy. They passed me and told me to imporve my upper body strength. So thats all i did. I was chattin to my mate Matt-he used to be in 42 Commando-and we both agreed that 13 stone would be an ideal weight for me. Dont do weights for the moment-just cardio work and running basically. As for the 8:36 time- it was on a treadmill. I started off at 3.5mph for bout 5 mins (warm up). Then reset it and went upto about 9.7/8. I just pumped my amrs-which seemed to make me legs go faster and ended up with that time. I did feel a bit 'wobbly' when id finished but who cares. Im not applying until i reach my own personal set targets. So i got a way to go yet,but it'll be worth it in the end.
Treadmills I find are ok if you are recovering from an injury or you want to learn correct running tecqnique if you are a fit hard man joining the Marines get on the roads and run in the pissing rain and wind..thats what you are going to face in the field,on excersise or on the battlefield...Start to harden the mind and body....Scooter wrote:Do you not get bored? Five minutes on a treadmill for me and my mind is numb...

I aint trying to annoy anyone but I am just one of these picky people
Try a week of running and increase each day: Mon 3miles Tuesday 5milesfreestyler_onli wrote:I do get bored on the treadmill-but i picture meslef in the Blues uniform and that spurs me on. I am cutting calories- my bodys immune to stuff like cabbage soup-so im on salads. And im drinking so much water-i could piss back in the bottle and you couldnt tell the difference! It will be hard work but ''Cant=Wont=Why am i bothering to do this?''
My job involves sitting on my arse for 3 hours-not ideal but my routine is as follows:
Mon-Fri
Get up
Go work
Go gym for 1 1/2-2 hours (depends on how tired i am)
Eat salad with meats/cheese
Go to footie field for sprints and jogs.
Sat:
Same as Mon-Fri
Sun:
Up at 5:30
4 mile walk/jog/run.
I no theres no weight training or no 'marathons' yet- but once i lose the weight -ill find them easier to do.
What I would suggest is a little bit of upper body work. Just some pressups and sit ups to begin with. Do as many as you can (eg 20) then half that figure (10) .freestyler_onli wrote:Dont do weights for the moment-just cardio work and running basically.
Me to..thats funnyrobj wrote:wouldnt be as bad as making the mistake thinking you have ran 5miles in a very quick time only to realise that the treadmill is in km and not miles!I havent done it but heard of some people who have
