On a personal point I didn't suffer any of the side effects bin-man talks about - but everyone is different and the fact that some of these may affect you could be your deciding factor as to whether to go for it or not.

Thats the first time I've heard about high altitude affecting eyesight though, and i've been to some pretty high places in my time. I was told that sub aqua diving may prove troublesome as the laser process removes layers of skin from the eye which may weaken it enough for water pressure to rupture the eyeball.

The main problem with this OP is that there hasn't been enough people or time put into the long term effects, I'm fine and have suffered no side effects, some people have experienced side effects - like most things in life it effects people in different ways.

I think lasek shouldn't be accepted especially for SBS as if ur doing all underwater ops then there would more than likely be a chance of the eye ruptering. I am short sighted and oneday want to try fr S.F but i wouldn't fancy leaving blind to be honest.
