Fantastic. Our very own forum renegade. 'What are you going to do about it' - the classic playground line. Even if you could, what exactly do you think you're going to do? Are you going to insult me into submission?Patrick wrote:Why, what are you going to do about it?
My conversation is with davo141 and paratrooper01, who have my apologies for my misunderstanding.
Wherever you and your guilty conscience have come from, it's not from this conversation.
paratrooper01 has already told you to take a lesson from the stickies section, maybe you should?
Bear in mind guys that the RM run the PRMC course to enable the Corps to sift throught the potential recruits so that the guys who turn up at CTC have already been vetted so as to keep the failure rate low. (Not sure if Para Regt do the same though)?SandyTheGuvnor wrote:Para Reg has the highest failure rate of all.Patrick wrote:The Parachute Regiment is usually over subscribed to the hilt and the Royal Marines, the regiment I'm bidding for, has one of the highest failure rates for potential recruits passing out.
They're changing the PJFT for RM this October to a similar 3 miles run on a treadmill. I would've thought that would only filter out the guys that fail the 3 miler on the PRMC, not necessarily change that much about RT. I've seen diary's from guys who've been on their PRMC, meeting up with guys who made it to week 29 of RT.timex wrote:Bear in mind guys that the RM run the PRMC course to enable the Corps to sift throught the potential recruits so that the guys who turn up at CTC have already been vetted so as to keep the failure rate low. It does make a difference, thats why we still do it. High failure rates, are because the required level is high and thats why we lose a lot of people be they going for Para Regt or RM. Its tough but so's life, and lets face it the 3 miler is only the start...Patrick wrote:They're changing the PJFT for RM this October to a similar 3 miles run on a treadmill. They are vetted, but it doesn't seem to have that much of a bearing on the failure rates during the 32 weeks that matter. No one wants to waste their time chasing a dream that's never going to happen, it's almost as if we need new ideas on selection for any regiment or corps with high failure rates.
So you've decided to follow your original instincts. Well done.Scouse_liam wrote:Boys i have my barb test on wednesday. Nice try but you are talking about volunteers, if blokes don't like it for whatever reason you cannot make them stay.Patrick wrote: One solution could be to revert to what they used to do during the draft, effectively turn the 32 weeks into a an unconditional sentence that you will complete. Thanks for that Lusty. I didn't know stuff like that goes on your record, then follows you through your career. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.Illustrious wrote:Actually it already works like that in a sense. If you leave RT for any reason and then decide to return, you waive your right to PVR so are there for the full stretch.
