well I did my BARB ages ago I don't actually remember what the list said
but every time I ask the careers office they say 'just get thru ADSC then they'll give you a date after that'

I guess thats what I'll have to do

still its only less than a month now at least //

Hey girls, i have been called a few things, well everything under the sun by my older brother bless him but i am a guy, literally... my name is Guy :D

My sister struggles with the upper body strength part and i've been trying to help her with pull ups and press ups, she's not joining the army but is a vet nurse so has the qaulifications to join the RAVC if she chose to.

The main trick is repetition. Just keep doing them, try and do one full press up then try and do two next time, if you can't do two full then drop onto your knees to do the 2nd as a half then continue to do as many half press ups as possible.

My trick for running is measure out your 1.5 mile route and run it best effort every other day.

For heaves, if you are having trouble like my sis does to do one, then use a support like a chair to do assisted heaves/chin ups then gradually get rid of the support, a bit like doing half press ups.

Another tip for improving arm strength is by doing tricep dips. Use a chair or bed for these.

I would give better advice but i'm not a PT instructor or anything close to that so sorry if it's a bit washy!

Cheers Guy for the tips

Ive been doing tricep dips n dorsal raises for the lower back also

will try tonight and do at least 1 or 2 full press ups..

havent actually got anywhere to practiec the chinups but theres a metal fence about a metre off the ground and ive been laying under that n pulling myself up its like an easy version of the chin up but apparently uses the same muscles

u should try that too zoe

My pleasure... i'm guessing, so don't take my word on this, but i can imagine quite a few girls have trouble with the upper body strength stuff, so maybe just do your best in that department but make sure you go as far within the run time as possible to compensate.

HRH on your next run, go past a playground and you can use the monkey bars for chin-ups.

I think that's what they want to see at ADSC...ok maybe not eyes popping out but 110% effort in everything.

I should know in the next few days hopefully. I did my last interview Friday and my Careers Sgt said it will take 4-5 days to get a date back.
