Simply choice of regiment is up to you and
subject to being acceptable. Some are superb,
others good, poor, or merely indifferent.
If you have previous regular service and can't
join your regimental TA unit try to join a chummy
regiment. From RM, I was accepted by the Queens
on that basis. I was then in my mid forties- old fart.
TA training is now infinitely superior by comparison.

I find TA acceptable among family and friends,but prefer the more formal version,which is Thank You when dealing with people you don't know.
