As chad as that 21 Para site was it has given me an idea, perhaps those who frequent the once a marine site could also form a re-enactment society. We could for example call call it 69 Commando, we could recreate famous runs ashore from years gone by and have special "brown wings" badges to paralell 21s system for number of jumps.

Although commando training may not be essential, obesity would seem a pre-requisite if we are to follow the exaple set by 21 Para, as would chad nicknames......... your opinions and ideas please.

Had a para name of Reith OC my JCC. I think he eventually got control of 2 Para. Nice man, determined, quiet, reflective and intelligent; stuff knows why he joined the loony toons.

i hate to brag like. but..i went to the Army for a week, and one of the sargeants was a Para..guess came 4th out of 56 ppl on the the 3 mile run? .. and guess which position the the para came? .. take a good long hard guess. no he didnt win it. he didnt even come in the top 15... 17th i think he managed. and us kids were 15/16 years old,

n'uff said.

My wife was ISSUED a green berret when she was a W.R.A.C. and when she left she wasn,t diffy her jumper!!!!!! Also a General salute in the army is given with the right arm ""longest way up shortes way down"" and not both arms up at once shortest way up and stay up 1982 ring a bell!!!!!!!

Suggest you read the book"Army Commandos"
"And The Raiders"1940-1946 written by Robin Neillands
It tells how the Army Commandos were formed,and the reasons why
the Royal Marines took over the mantle Commando.
However,the most interesting read in the whole book was how the
paras were formed by those who could not hack the Commando
training.
Does this show,and i look to such stalwarts as HH Owdun SH and Robin Parry
to verify,that DFA and his cherry berry chums are nothing less than
Royals cast offs??????
