mark22 wrote:I've heard that prince william is going in for the SAS. Found this article:
British royal PRINCE WILLIAM could embark on a military career in the British Army's Special Air Service (SAS) after passing a number of gruelling selection tests for the specialist regiment.
The 23-year-old, who began training at Sandhurst Military Academy in January (06), completed a demanding cross-country exercise in Wales last week (begs13FEB06) where he was forced to march across hilly terrain for three days without sleep.
A Sandhurst source says, "Not everyone was selected. Just the fittest and the best.
"William got through because of his extraordinary level of fitness."
If the royal is serious on joining the prestigious force, he will face more challenging selection rounds before being taught the specialist SAS commando techniques of warfare.
Yeah...

Not gonna happen is is. media spin more like

What did Wills actually do? Was it the Cambrian?
Three days on the hills does not an SF soldier make...
I've had nav errors lasting longer than that.

Well now he's learning to fly in the RAF can't imagine he'll have much time for SF selection!
Feel a bit sorry for him and Prince Harry, must be tough doing all that training and passing out, then not being able to experience what their training has been for. I know there're rich and Harry was sinking bottles of £4000 Champagne in some club in Soho but he's a Commissioned Officer in the Army, more than some people.
