Well done Ash, all that hard training paid off. Must be a nice feeling!

I have a question and hope you could be helpful enough to answer it for me, basically, would you let us in on how beasted you were prior to the 3miler/gym test 1 + 2?

Thanks in advance and well done again. :)

How did you find the new format? , ie 3 mile run first.
How did this bottom field session compare to your one a year ago ?
26/41

The new format seemed to make things easier. Last year, the morning after doing Bottom Field in the afternoon my muscles were sore. However, doing it on the second morning with Gym Test 2 in the afternoon made it bearable. Enough time to get plenty of nutrition, but not enough time for your body to cease up.

This bottom field seemed easier. That said, before it I spent so much time psyching myself up for it that I was really able to concentrate on it and push myself through. Also, I didn't need to piss so much this year.

sandaz and liam17, ask any questions you have here, as likely other lads have similar questions.

They're not beastings, they're warmups ;). Really though, think of them as something stupidly hard and they'll be that much harder. I found thinking that they're going to be tough and callenging but attainable helped, but that's pretty subjective. Anyway, say the Assault Course warmup was a 10, then the warmup for the 3 mile run was a 2-3 in comparison. What we did for the 3 mile warmup was like a diet-bottomfield. Sprints over 75m-100m, pressups, squat thrusts, tuck jumps, situps and some other things. Bottom field is more of the same but lasts about 20-25m.

I found Gym Test 2 the hardest. That was proper hard work for 30-45 minutes, nonstop. However, by that point you'd be crazy to wrap if you've got that far.

Hope that helps.

Why has all these changes happened, from what you have said has the PRMC been made easier. Anyway suppose if it has been made easier the end result from the 32 weeks is the same, so doesnt really make a diffrence. Also i have always thought that gym test 2 is like 15mins, whats going on lol.

What did you do on bottom field? Is that just an organised thrashing, firemans lifts, crawling around etc?

It was basically 20-25 minutes that consisted of 6-8 100-150m sprints, some uphill, with double-mark time in between everything. Besides that there'd be sets of situps, tuckjumps, pressups, squats and a couple piggy-backs. Rather tough stuff.

bit of advice for when you go in, practise double marking time properly. You do it all the time in the gym and it knackers me out, but some people who trained with it said it ''relaxes them'' :o

Sounds similar to our "Battle PT" sessions. Basically, running around with all your kit on, crawling through the mud and running up hills with logs. :)
