I got through the filter interview at my AFCO and they sent my app form to crawell, but i was told i need more 'life experiances' (fair enough)!! But they didnt elaborate on this! So i am now applying 12 months later as instructed. Any way last year i joined my local ATC as a C.I, which has helped immensly. I do more sports/adventure training now and i also fly regularly, is there anything else i can be doing anyone??!
Does anyone know of any good websites to help with aptitude tests? i went to my local AFCO the other day and i have booked my AST for next month.
cheers

EHG, life experiences can vary. Try to get yourself as involved in your community as possible. ATC is good. Think about Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme as well so you can get the outdoor pursuits tick. Think about cultural experiences - theatre, opera, classicial music. Charity work is also a good option. The OASC want someone who is well rounded, some good experiences on life and who can talk with an open and honest opinion on world events.
Useful post, even for me that.
Question about the duke of edinburgh award, Isnt that only for people upto 18 ? or does it cover adults in different ways?
interesting you mention about cultural experences, as im off to my second classical recital in june
But i'll add that im a keen traveller and am out and about a fair amount this year as well as a keen photographer. Done the Uni life as well.

hey guys,
Never mind IOT - it's hard enough to get into OASC at the moment. the latest news I hear is that they are putting a hold on calling all people forward to OASC, whilst they decide about the implementation of a pre-OASC fitness test. AS far as I hear, this applies to all, so it looks like more waiting for us!
I am only quoting my *very good* source, so dont get mad if this is wrong please!
All in all, I guess it can only benefit us - more chance to do charity work, get fitter, read the papers more etc etc

So you would have to do a fitness test....to undertake another fitness test?!
Fair play if it gets rid of any Wayne "who ate all the pies" Rooney types who are dreaming about Regiment or Aircrew

The RAF will be instituting a new fitness test at the AFCOs, but it will be for P3 (Airmen) entry candidates. This will be happening later this year.

The Aircrew course just got harder...
R&I week went out the window (too expensive apparently) so now we get 4 phys sessions a week instead of 3, and extra NavEx.
Oh what joy. I love pine poles, really I do.
