There's also Rat Race in Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester.

That Tough Guy race looks a good'un.

Where in NZ you go bud?
Haven't been for years,Made some lasting friendships there.

I was there late 1999, before the America's cup.
Visited both islands (north and south), but did most of the sports in Queenstown. Had our own car, so were free to go where we wanted too. Awesome place, good food, great people, and quite cheap.
Anddd we had good weather too.
Did some white water rafting in Canada-Alberta too, I think it was in Jasper or the other place, can't remember, braincells are suffering old age.

As for Scotland, yes great place for hiking, but not place beats NZ !!

Anyone care to get back to teh original post??

Can anyone shed any light on that tough guy competition, as the website is pretty poor on information.

Where is it held??
Do you have to raise a certain amount of sponsership or is there just an entry fee?
whats the difference between the even in January and the 'Nettle warrior' event in july.

Cheers
Chris

nuc1earwaste - I'm going to pop my arm around your shoulder now and say something that I emplore you to listen to:

You may feel like you're being victimized on here and that noone is giving you a break. This is not true. You have to understand that people will be stand-offish with you by virtue of this being a virtual world and that anyone could be anyone. You come on here and people judge you on what you say, the way you say it and how you react - fact of life.

Wato is a good example of someone who also often posts suspect material and in large quantities - the difference being is that when he has his ears boxed he doesn't bite, he takes it on the chin.

I think you have a problem articulating a point and have problems with the harshness of other people's tongues. You are sensitive which is fine, but others on here are not and that is a fact you'll need to learn to live with.

When we read what you have put down, we cringe. The rant you receive is no more than any of us would expect to receive for a similar post.

May I recommend posting less and only where you'll add value or where you seek genuine advice.

Failing that, perhaps finding a more suitable forum where you can be yourself without fear of reproach would be appropriate - if indeed this is you and not a front. Nothing personal, some people don't like it here

Tough Guy is held in the west country somewhere - I think the address is on the application form in small print.

Nettle warrior is the name of the tough guy comp in the summer and is different to the winter one simply because of the temperature. They do theme them (braveheart or bridge over the river kwai) and that's the only difference I can see.

As for fund raising - look at the application form or give em a ring

I hear they're cracking fun!!!!

If you cant take shit or critisism then army life is not for you

Think about it, you've spent all night cleaning and ironing and polishing, then in the morning the Corporal comes in, takes one look, and says ''That is shite'' Are you going to talk back because you dont take shit?

Toughguy takes place near Wolverhampton. The Tough Guy event is in the winter, the nettle warrior event is in the Summer. The winter one (which I have done) involves a cross country run through ditches, zig zagging up and down hills and through rivers. On completion of the cross country phase, you do the obstacle phase which involves lots more water, smoke, mud, barbed wire etc etc. Its a great laugh. I think they change the distances and the theme every year. When I did it we had to paint stupid moustaches on our faces. I completed the race, then collapsed and spent an hour or two in front of the fire recovering from hypothermia with a pretty St John's Ambulance girl. She stripped me out of my soaking clothes and Im embarrassed to say, my under carriage had well and truly retracted! Oh happy days

Can you two take your pathetic slanging match elsewhere or do it via PM. This has nothing to do with the topic of the thread!

So is the Nettle Warrior the same as the Tough Guy event but just held in the summer?
Do you have to enter in a team?

Cheers

Yeah Tough Guy and Nettle Warrior are basically the same. Ive never done Nettle Warrior but I believe it is longer than Tough Guy but obviously less muddy.

I think you can enter as an individual or a team (much more fun in a team!)

What does Yohimbie mean? Or do I have to complete it first?
