i couldnt make it as a prince so i joined the royal marines

Feeling at the time, was that Edward should have joined on day one and had no special consideration, no days off to swan around at Remembrance Parade with Mummy, for instance.(How embarassing was
that? Whoever issued him with
that greatcoat obviously had a sense of humour overload

Listens to nice Lady asking if she could speak to her son Lt E. Windsor.
"Hang on a tick Love, I'll find out if he's around" SD Officer shouts out "Theres a Mrs Windsor asking if she can speak to her son, come on! come on! Where are you then?"

I know that a good few of the royal family have served in your armed forces but have any of them actually served in a unit overseas or during wartime?
