falklands smock is old smock v thick kinda like the 94 smocks without the zip pockets. V warm on dartmoor or salisbury in winter. 95 smock on top and the layer principle works very well.
anyway, sleevles if your cold enough to want an SAS smock your in arctic weather. If its that cold just put a norgie under 95 smock and youll be fine for exercise

No your not in Artic weather , a SAS smock originally is thin as hell , made from Gabordine which is thinner than T shirt material , ive used them in all sorts of weather , just ok on the windproof side and dry`s easyish when wet . You then have to decide on the mid layer and base layer that works well for you and the Smock.

SAS smocks have less room in them from my experience, because 95 somcks have those zippy pockets on the chest but the SAS one doesn't, i personally get on fine with my 95 smock, and seeing as it's issued for free it coems damn cheap too. WHoops, forgot, cadets get the old 94 issue stuff don't u

Will somoene do us all a favour and lock/delete is f***ing post?
I thought I'd escape the cringe-worthy antics of C4 and 'BB5' by coming on here. Alas, it is even worse... Cadets combing over the minutiae of relative combat clothing. Now THAT is cringe-worthy.
Please don't allow posts to degenerate into a 'My cadet webbing has more pouches than yours!'; because it makes me cry. Well, nearly. Sadly, with the re-emergence of 'CAMTECH' (IGI), I feel there is little hope of ridding the forum of these posts...To take my own advice, I suppose all we can do is sit back and laugh.

And that is what i plan to do.

P.S I understand that to 'The Mods' that these threads are hilarious; sadly I've had this for four straight years, so it gets to you. But I'm catching on, this is kinda funny.

Leave the little ones alone Lad, they have to learn some how and somewhere, if it`s not YOUR LIKING don`t open the thread and read then finish with insult`s to all who have contributed to just a bit of harmless chit chat.......no need to reply or all the cadets might gang up on you

Wherever Cadets come on this site, everyone seems to jump on their backs and take the p*ss, and he's right, there's no need. So they're kids, they might not be as mature as some of the rest of us. So whenever you come accross a thread where cadets are chatting, why not just go to another thread and leave them to it? So they're in the cadets. So what? They're not old enough to be in the Army. At least they're not nicking your car or breaking your windows, and they'll be much more disciplined than most kids their age.

What about the possibility of a cadets forum?
I don't mind cadets at all. At least they have some discipline. Now the two wee scumbags that tried to nick my car last night... I would teach them some discipline with a pick axe handle. My blood is still boiling.

Well said! I was a PI in the ACF befor the TA and even though the kids were a bunch of scallys they were a good enough bunch of kids... and loads of cadets dont get issued w/ the PLCE gear guys... My kids got issued 95's (i think all of SW did and probably all of them) but we only had 4 complete sets off webbing and 3 bergans... So our guys had 95s on with the old-skool '58 patern webbing! Most of our kids bought their own webbing because the amo pouches on '58 are for 7.62 and not the 5.56 the they now use...and '58 gets bloody heavy when wet...and its just crap.. They didnt buy PLCE for fun tho, as it would stay in house; the kids would sell it on for cheap when they left.
Most of the Cadets I dealt with were decent enough Kids, and it takes dedication to spend your pocket money on buying extra kit...
just a thought...

at the risk of sounding like a spanner, is the sas smock the same as a windproof arctic smock?
