Some more bone questions for you matey,
im arriving at barnham on the monday rather than taking a 4+ hour train trip tuesday morning (its only about an hours drive for me) i was intending travelling suited & booted so as to make a good impression when i got there.
Did the course members take the key skills tests suited up or were you told to 'slip into something more comfortable' LOL.
I noticed that the interview stage wasnt til the 3rd day of the course - do you get suited up for that or have it in uniform?
I seem to have a sh*tload of stuff packed, im sure i aint gonna get through it all in 3 days!LOL
TATZ
well

we had to wear suit/smartly dressed for the interview. they give u kit to wear around when u wake up, overalls and boots. U take your PT kit in a little bag thingy they give u (dont know the name

) and u get changed there. Ull b in regiment clothing through most of it and also have a bib with your number on

I'm obviously really gonna get up peoples noses here, but whilst I have consideed joining the Rocks I feel as though, the recruitment materials give a false view of the PGAC, I was prepared for a mega slog upto almost PRMC standards, I eman respect to you all, as you're better men than me as you've actually got up & done it whilst I'm still a civvy sitting here in wide eyed awe of ALL our armed forces! But to contradict myself once more, they do say on the website that the PGAC fitness requirments aren't high by Regiment standards. And I tell you what, having read about 2 Squadrons Pre-Para & 'P-Company' style selection, that is hard graft!

Bear in mind that PGAC is an ACQUAINT course, not a SELECTION course) although you do need to complete it and prove your BASIC fitness and determination.
Because it is an ACQUAINT course, designed to give you an impression of the RAF Regt, it cannot be as 'robust' as PRMC. It is a 'taster', nothing more.
The real hard work only starts when you start your training. For those aspiring to 2 (Para) Sqn, be prepared for a 'Pre-Para' course in the Brecon Beacons and a Selection Course that is closely modelled on the Army 'P' Company. Only the fittest recruits are chosen for 2 Sqn, likewise - the smartest are chosen for Queens Colour Sqn (QCS).

It's called am aquaint course but you do get selected. You are getting aquainted to the regiment but then again its pass or fail so there is a certain ammount of selection by the staff.
If you don't meet the standards then you can't go on to training proper.

Could you just not refuse to go in the QCS?

Nobody is forced to go to QCS, likewise you can't be forced to go to II Sqn (you have to volunteer for parachuting in the UK armed forces). If you're of reasonable height, bearing, good at drill and look smart, then you'll be made aware of the possibility of serving on QCS, if it flicks your switch. The days of the QCS press-gang ended quite a while ago!

Before i say anything this is not nimbard, its his brother. So direct the insults at me. Is the PGAC meant to be a joke? How do 50% of hopefuls fail this task? 10 pressups? my mum can do 10 pressups. I was in the royal marines and the PRMC was there for a reason, to weed out the weeds basically. But this PGAC, what sort of people do they attract if people are failing that? Sorry to be having a go seemingly needlessly but how can you be proud of such a minor accomplishment? Its just amusing to me after seeing what hard actually is to hear about this 3 day course and why anybody would actually bother to prepare for it. I could probably do it in my sleep. Saying that nimbard here is actually planning on joining this regiment so i will be expecting him to be top of all his courses or its wet willy for him. Sort yourselves out, get some balls and find out what pain really is. Commandos rule! Losers!

commandos rule?OK listen this lots been covered, if you read further up the forum you'll see tha this is NOT a selection course. Having said that, take a look at the RSC to get into Paras, not that hard, but with training you are weeded out if not up to standard, shut up & flsuh out your head gear!

Well Nimbards Brother, seen as you've got the wrong end of the stick and think Commando's rule then i'll explain. Its been said over this thread about 3 times that its the BARE MINIMUM standards and doesn't mean doing 10 pressups is a ticket into the gunners course. if you weren't such a nugget and possibly read the comments then you'd understand.
There are members here at the moment (Taffy-David and Gunner75) who are on the Trainee Gunners course now. David has made many posts stating that the Physical side since the PGAC is much more hard and intesnse on the Trainee Gunner course. Gunner75 is an Ex TA Paratrooper and admits himself that it isn't a peice of piss.
Read this thread, See the insiders View and tell them you think its a joke.

Seen as you think RM standards are so high check out
http://www.idtroyalnavy.mod.uk/catalogue/13/1301.pdf Thats the minimun standards of a mile and half in 11:30 (which is a joke) and 50 sit ups in 2 mins. Another basic Swimming test there too.
I've been scooting around the RM boards for a long time here and lad's pass the PRMC with 30 odd pressups 40 situps and so on. Even though its written down it doesn't mean people will be turning up expecting to be laughing all the way through.

Marines rule, cowabunga dude!
how old?
I believe the bare minimum is now 15 push ups although they obviously expect you to be able to do more.
The RAF regiment is a fine and unique regiment, and does not see itself in any way similar to the Marines.
DO NOT comment on something you know nothing about, you just look silly.

I'm a wee bit confused, Nimbard originally it was your 'brother' who was posting, now you reply as if the flak was directed at you, think we have a bit of a pork pie on our hands. I fyou think so little of the Reg & it's training and that you'll piss your way through, then why are you joining, surely if you're such a killing machine already you would want more of a challenge? Trust me, with an attitude like that, you're training team will hate you & so will fellow recruits, both can make your training infinitely harder if they want so I would watch your gob. I hope there's a nice big piece of humble pie for you somewhere along too.
