Cheers pasha

I’ve got to go and talk to Margaret, the nice lady who books everyone on courses, as for screwing me up, it has a bit, as I wanted to get the course out the way before I go back to college, but now that’s not possible!!! :x, I was also looking forward to meeting the padre...

I was hoping to go to Pirbright, but if I can get on one of the other courses I will, I’m not to fussy, just want to get on and do it now...

Thanks mate

Ok I was looking at the TA web site today, I saw that my local TA Unit is Bexleyheath - IT Comms. Now does that mean that it only deals with IT Comms soldiers ? Might sound a silly question but can't help to ask.

It'll mean Royal Sigs mate

You'll be responsible for putting together comms networks for HQ's in terms of either radio, landline or Sat comms.

Take my advice, although the sigs guys are good blokes, join the Int Corps TA if you have the choice. Or if you want to do fitness, Paras or RMR.

Cheers for that sp10122 :D

Pasha how long have you been in the regiment ?

My main aim is to join the Royal Marines, but I wanted to get an idea of army life and the TA seem's to be a great choice. I work in computer's at the moment so I really just wanted to be a infantry man, so is what's the regiment like ? I was aiming to join a Combat (Infantry) unit, but the nearest one is in Catford as I don't have a car it would make it a long journey.

As I want to join the Royal Marines later on is there any regiment that would help me on my way ? sp10122 said Int Corps, can you explain what this regiment does ?

Nice one boy's (sp10122 - Pasha).

Realistically what is the pay like in the TA ? DO you get paid weekly, fornightly, monthly or yearly? and does anyone know if its easy enough to juggle it as well as doing Alevels or degree>!

also, it says the TA require a service of 3 years, can you leave early if you are leaving to go into regular armed forces?

My local reg will be the Tyne tees regiment..so hopefully going to be in contact with them

cheers chaps

The TA is very flexible, depending who you're with and it's ideal at Uni. Every time I had a spare week I'd be off on courses, doing all sorts of stuff. Int Corps is very good at that though, the regs are quite stretched. I doubt you would find it the same in an infantry TA.

You also get L/Cpl straight out of trade trg which is good news. I sent Jason some info on the Int Corps which I'll forward if you're interested. With them it's no problem if you can't make Wednesdays and they pay for all your travel. Your local unit will be Gateshead I expect.

Pay......The bounty is a major plus, especially as a student. From reserve forces website:
