GR is right......... Lower your sights a bit and just aim to get in as a regular Sapper entry.. Even THAT would be beyond you just now. (They don't take ANY old misfit y'know... there are CERTAIN standards that have to be met  ) And methinks Cdo/Para entry is la-la-land without several pounds of PE4 shoved up your hoop.

You should have a bit of natural fitness before you even start preparing for that sort of journey.....

Unless you had a dump half way round, got lost, or were carrying your girlfiend while wearing diver's boot on your 1.5 miler, then 12:50 is the sort of time that asthmatic 50 year olds with zimmer frames might be aiming for.........

Take a look at this weblink to give an idea of Engineer trades as part of your basic Combat Engineer training...

Greenronnie wrote:Mate, if I were you I'd probably just give up on the idea on even attempting P Coy or the Commando Course, if 12.50 is the best you can offer for a BFT. Obviously your fitness will improve once you join the army, but that is way below even the most basic of fitness standards that will be required.
I agree that I wouldnt be able to cope with the P-coy or Commando training now, thats one of the reasons I havent opted for an out-and-out soldiering role from the start. Hopefuly I will get fitter being a regular Sapper, it wasnt my intention to go for the P coy or Commando training straight off, but the plan was to wait untill I had the adequate fitness levels.
It's only my second attempt at 1.5miles after being out of any sort of fitness training for a long while so it will rapidly improve, given that im training 5 days a week and I'm eating healthier, I'll have 1.5 down to the ten minute mark within 6 weeks hopefuly.
