Basically, all the stuff you do before you join is bugger all compared to your everyday life of hell once you're in training!

I was thinking along the lines of your turn up, get given a big gun, a pretty hat and then go home and they ring you when your needed
On a serious note, I fully understand (well I think I do) that it's going to be nothing like I've done before and It's the going to be a lot of pain and hard work.

Also you get about 3 travel warrents a year i seem to remember, besides that you get a forces discount card but have to pay your own way home, so actually driving is not only faster (usually) but much cheaper! With discount my return ticket was 64 quid!
