My word means absolutely nothing, but how can we expect to deter international terrorism, and not respond in force to having service personnel taken hostage on deployment? Would other countries respond in words?

They werent unarmed as such, the had the usual rifles etc, but they were outgunned and so did not offer resistance. I do believe the Iranians had RPGs and Machine guns (From the news anyhoo...)

The lynx was only despatched after Cornwall lost comms with the 2 craft, and by the time it arrived, there were 6 accompanying Iranian boats, it too decided the best course of action would be to not intervene.
This is what i recall from last nights news...
Anyone know if theyve released the female sailor yet?

Ah yes, just found a story on it, they wont realise her because of the UKs "incorrect attitude" refering to the fact the UK are sure they were in Iraqi waters.

I posted quite a bit on our sister forum.
I can not uderstand why HMS Cornwall
did not make her presence felt. A damn
good reason is required.

Why wasn't the top cover on station during the whole patrol. I blame Rules of engagment, not sure what they are on out there but i bet its in the Iranians favour, funny old thing! (it usually works on the side of the bad guys).
Lessons have cleary not been learnt from the last farce. If this is going to become a regular thing we need to take a more aggresive stance when in those waters. Maybe arm Royal ILAWS and GPMG's as well, not just rifles, and let them engage the arseholes before they get any where near. Their intentions are cleary not friendly.
