Watching a programme recently about the art of Persia/Iran made me think of the Iranian embassy siege of May 1980. This is because the Arab conquest of Persia featured strongly in this episode and I recall that the terrorists belonged to the Iranian Arab minority who sought greater autonomy or independence.
Can anyone recommend a good book on the siege and the background to it? And does anyone know if the issue of Iranian Arabs was resolved in any way or if it is still active. We hear nothing about it now because it is obscured by other conflicts and a bit of preliminary googling has yielded few results.
