Ankle support

Post by ofens »

Has anyone got any good advice / tips on ankle support?
For when covering bad terrain (bogs & babies heads, rugged hills etc).

I'm aware that boots are the first consideration, and am looking into this separately, so am here looking for info on methods of ankle support that do not involve a change of boot.

Anything anyone has tried and had success with?

Cheers

Hi ofens - delayed reply so don't know if its still relevant to you.

Ankle support is really common, particularly in sport. If im going to support someones ankle short term I use tape but there are various long term supports you can buy as taping an ankle might be ok for a match but isn't realistic if you're on the go all the time.

I'm not sure how bulky that is (doesn't look it from the photo) so should fit inside a boot quite comfortably. Anything like that would give added protection against an ankle sprain as it should resist ankle inversion - by far the most common sprain (when you go over your ankle and the foot goes inward)

What about a nice coloured plaster of Paris cast on your ankle

Thank you for your reply, I shall check this out!
And I'm hoping it won't come to the plaster option...
