officer role in sas

i want to know what an officers role would be in the sas of rank captian and major and over ranks around them?

would it be a desk job or would they actually go on recon missions and raiding buildings etc?

I'm not sure many people will know the answer. I guess your just intrigued rather than wondering what happens if i get to that stage. So i shall grace you with the thoughts of Bravo Two Zero's highest reported SAS trooper was Andy McNab and Vincent Phillips who I believe were both Sergeants. Obviously this is only one example and would their real ranks be reported correctly? I guess only a select few know the answers.
