Don't bother worrying about the medical, theres nothing you can do about it. It's everything after the medical you need to think about.
I second this. I was worrying so much about the medical I didn't have time to worry about anything else!
Oh and Congratulations.
I think eveyone who's done ADSC will say the same thing afterwards but once you're done you realise there was nothing to worry about. Apart from the medical, which you have no control over, as long as you put everything you have into the tasks, run, PSSR etc you'll be fine. Show respect to the instructors and do as you're told when you're told.
After our 2.4km people were talking on the way back so we were made to do press-ups, which wasn't nice!
Theres nothing hard about if you've trained for it.
Yeah people were talking after our 1.5m run so we had to do the 'crocodile walk' for a bit!
Only one or two people were medically deffered by us and the rest either were deffered for the team tasks, attitude, fitness or they opted out by themselves.
To those going to ADSC just give it your best and don't opt out of anything, even if you think you can't do it. Keep vocal on the team tasks and show the staff and other candidates respect and you should pass no problem.
Also make sure you know what you're doing as your job and make sure you have prepared as it shows.
It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders, even though I have to wait until January.
The medical with the Dr was just him going through your RG8 that you sent in earlier, confirming what you wrote. Then you strip to your boxers and do a few excersises, he sees how flexible you are and what restrictions you have. Blood pressure is taken (mine was high at first but he did it again because he said it was probaly nerves), check for heart murmur. He gives your bollocks a quick squeeze and that's it really.
They all want you to pass at ADSC, remember that. The Dr is friendly so it's not a harsh physical that you might imagine.
The only thing you can do to prepare for your medical is no excercise, fizzy drinks, mass sugar or anything to raise your heart beat for 24 hours beforehand and keep hydrated.
Otherwise like said before just give it your all and do what you're told and you should be fine. Best of luck mate and IF you do get deffered take it on the chin and take on board what you need to improve.
If you get a heart murmur don't worry, at my ADSC someone had been deffered for one and was back and also I know about 5 lads who've had a heart murmur and returned to pass.
That said I was is your position two days ago and nothing anyone could say could calm my nerves so don't worry, it's normal to be nervous!
My intakes on the 3rd of January but I'm not sure about the PRAC course. I think it may be because I'm going in as a Junior.
They only had the RG8 there, not the full medical records. You have to sign some papers there allowing them access to your full medical records.
Now if we are all sitting comfortably, when i 1st ever approached AFCO i spoke to both Army re; Paras and Royal Navy re: Marines.
I always wanted to be in marines but then army went on about the paras etc.... so both careers advisors suggested i put applications in for both army-paras and royal marines as apparently you CAN apply to 2 services.
