SAS - Swimming?

Do you have to be able to swim to pass selection for the SAS? If so how good wouldyou have to be at swimming? Because I can only swim a length of about a 100m pool and im not very confident in water and cannot swim underwater, Is that a big hinder?

I'm not sure, but it is a fair bet that SAS selection would require you to at least be reasonably competent and confident in the water. How else would you be able to deliver all those boxes of Milk Tray and get away?

For 21/23 SAS the swim test is about 600 metres in dpms, for 22 SAS I think it is harder, about 1km, but not certain on this>

Judging buy you're signature. You've a fu*king long wait until you can even remotely begin to even start to comprehend the swim. You've not even done ADSC, take it slow stupid.

This is by far the most entertaining part of these forums.

I have a question... I don't like wearing boots... can I wear trainers for the hills instead? Also, can I take my dog on the hills phase? He likes walking...

Coxy, I would wait until you're safely in the Army before you start thinking about going SAS. You may find some of the answers to your questions along the way.

Haven't you heard, every sas member needs a mascot, you can even take the dog on a rappel from a sea king if you want the only down side is there's only so much room in you're sleeping bag on ops haha, so one of you will be left out in the cold.

Fair enough, and true, a good attitude will do wonders... But asking those sort of questions will cancel any benefits a good attitude has... Coxy, just take it one step at a time and learn everything you can along the way!

100m is nothing compaired to this 1km pool.
If you can manage one length of that under water i'll give you £100.
