I’ll give you all my own opinion on the matter and this thread.
I think it is a disgrace that a British serviceman or woman would be refused a room in a hotel because of their career and the current political/operational climate. But having said that I feel that the statement of “Makes you wonder what would have happened if a woman in a bhurka rocked up, probably roll put the red carpet.” Is highly unfair, unjustified and offensive, I think it shows a lack of understanding of what is going on in the world, people and religion. Your statements has generalised everyone who wears a Burqa (which you spelt wrong by the way).
I doubt you’ve ever met a Muslim and his family, I have a friend who is Muslim and his family comes from Pakistan, after the first time of meeting them I was invited into their home and made very welcome. He is a very bright lad and is going on to study maths at university, which to be honest is above and beyond many on this forum, he condemns that actions of terrorists and extremists, I won’t say fundamentalists because that’s something totally different.
The idea that it is ethnic minorities that are responsible for eroding this countries society and culture away is a bold and outlandish way of thinking; I feel that it is in fact us British who are responsible for the way this country is going, partly by ostracising ethnic minorities, their culture and way of thinking, we are creating the gap and the issues.
I am not saying or denying the fact that there are some people within this country who are ethnic minorities and do create problems, conflict or friction, for example those women who complained about the wounded servicemen and women at Selly Oak Hospital, then again it was probably blown out f proportion but if all the facts are true then yes those people are unwelcome.
I still feel though you show a lack of understanding as do all of those who agree with you and I’d suggest you go off and actually meet some people and learn about other religions and cultures before making your statements.
I'd suppose you think that immigrants are an issues too?!

Untrue though? And that is your opinion, I am entitled to mine. I find the treatment of the soldier unfair, unjustified and offensive.
jabcrosshook wrote: I think it shows a lack of understanding of what is going on in the world, people and religion. Your statements has generalised everyone who wears a Burqa (which you spelt wrong by the way)
Oh didums there I am insulting again by spelling it wrong my apologies.

Lack of understanding? Hmm.. ok I take it you are an experienced and well travelled shcolar then. The again maybe your just spouting PC garbage. You don't know me or anything about me.

There you go again assuming. Good for you. I'm sure he is a very nice person but that is completely irrelevant as I was making a point about the current political correct madness in this country whereby a serving soldier is refused a room. Ok, now I'm going to make an assumption about you.

You want a big e-hug of the mods for "standing up" to nasty GGHT and his comments. Am I close?

After I finished laughing I had to pinch myself. Think what you saying fella. Trust me illegal immigrants who've travelled twelve countries to get here would probably disagree after they've finished spending their giro.

Your view here was all the rage back in 2002 odd, then some people got blown up on 7/7, Abu Hamza got arrested for preaching hate and Kriss Donald got killed. Don't know him? Chek this.

And as for "we". No no no, YOU may be but trust me I feel no guilt whatsoever about "eroding" my own country, then again I was born here as was my family so perhaps I should.

jabcrosshook wrote: I am not saying or denying the fact that there are some people within this country who are ethnic minorities and do create problems, conflict or friction

Ermm but you are though aren't you? Because you just did above and this is patently not true. Please don't make me dig out case after case of immigrants sex offences as it makes very depressing reading. Or the fact that TB is making a resurgance after we effectivley killed it off in this country.

jabcrosshook wrote: for example those women who complained about the wounded servicemen and women at Selly Oak Hospital, then again it was probably blown out f proportion but if all the facts are true then yes those people are unwelcome
Complained? Try ABUSED.

"Probably"? was it, like you "probably" haven't got a clue what your talking about you mean and you're "probably" an apologist for this despicable type of behaviour.
jabcrosshook wrote:I still feel though you show a lack of understanding as do all of those who agree with you and I’d suggest you go off and actually meet some people and learn about other religions and cultures before making your statements.
"Lack of understanding", are you sure this isn't Jaqui Smith or David Milliband posting here, take your PC Guardian speak somewhere else.

Making blanket statements is indicative of the amount of life experience in this matter you actually have. I'm not about to go off to a madrassa in Pakistan just to "understand" religion thank you very much. Repeating PC multicultural bullshit ad verbatim means nothing to me in case you haven't noticed.
jabcrosshook wrote:I'd suppose you think that immigrants are an issues too?! I'd suppose you think that immigrants are an issues too?!
Funnily enough, yes when uncontrolled as do the rest of the sane British public.

It's like this, multiculturism has failed. Why? Because and I'm going to stick my neck out here that Islam is incapable of integrating amongst traditional British society. It failed the second the bombs on 7/7 exploded simple as and no Zanulabour aplogist is going to make me think otherwise.

jabcrosshook quick question.

Do you know the Royal Marines are currently in Afghanistan engaging in combat with Taliban fighters? Do you know wat Taliban fighters are and what their idealogy is? Are you going to go out and welcome them with a warm handshake and try to understand their plight and discuss how evil the nasty British people are to them?

Yes the poor treatment of a British serviceman is indeed unfair but your comment is just as equally unfair, you are suggesting that someone wearing a Burqa would receive better treatment because of their religious beliefs and to this is in it’s own right is racist. The Muslims I know would be offended by the idea that they would receive better treatment than a British serviceman/woman on the basis of their religion.
jabcrosshook wrote: I think it shows a lack of understanding of what is going on in the world, people and religion. Your statements has generalised everyone who wears a Burqa (which you spelt wrong by the way)
Oh didums there I am insulting again by spelling it wrong my apologies.

Well to be honest you are being insulting because you haven’t even got the respect to find out the correct spelling, but you insist on using it in a negative context.

Lack of understanding? Hmm.. ok I take it you are an experienced and well travelled shcolar then. The again maybe your just spouting PC garbage. You don't know me or anything about me.

PC garbage? Please explain that to me then. If you are suggesting that to learn about other cultures and to respect, value and not insult them is in someway a bad thing then obviously that is where you are going wrong and where many people within the nation are too, what would be wrong with learning about other peoples cultures? Political Correctness used in the correct sense is not a negative concept, I feel that it shows respect.

I don’t think my comment was irrelevant to this thread, it was a statement in reply to your previous comments, which to me and probably various other people suggest that someone of a Muslim persuasion feels that they should get better treatment because they are a minority, isn’t that what all this “PC garbage is all about?”

You want a big e-hug of the mods for "standing up" to nasty GGHT and his comments. Am I close?

Maybe, Flighty can I have a hug please?!

What happened to Kriss Donald was indeed unfortunate and a hideous crime, but if I was to start listing all the murders and terrorist actions carried out by white people then this thread would never end, the research and listing would never end because there are too many to list.

What about Stephen Lawrence as an example?

And I suppose immigrants and ethnic minorities are responsible for AIDs and HIV? Now it all makes sense, that is why many nations in Africa have a problem with AIDs, it’s because they are black. Am I getting the hang of it now?
Oh and please don’t be dig out case after case of white British people raping and murdering people, I’m sure I’d come up with far more cases.
And to be honest that statement of yours above is the most bold and racist yet, I think it’s disgusting and intolerable, obviously you’re a prime candidate for the BNP, maybe you should look into it.
What about all the tribes in the world that were once disease free but now suffer from western diseases because of western travellers?

As far as I am aware I haven’t denied the fact that people who are of ethnic minority commit crime. And how is my behaviour despicable, when it is you who is making racist comments? I can’t see how what I have said is at all in any way dispacable.

Your above statement is reminiscent of your all your posts within this thread. How is what David Miliband and Jacqui Smith in anyway garbage? At the end the day they are politicians and are have achieved some great things and for that reason I doubt what they say is garbage.
I still don’t see what your problem with Political Correctness is though, why is it a bad thing not to want to insult others beliefs, religion or culture based on ethnicity?

It is not Islam who cannot integrate within British society, but it is people with attitudes like your own who do not allow them too and simply marginalise them for reasons unknown to me.

jabcrosshook quick question.

Have you forgotten about the Islamic members of the British armed forces who are fighting in Afghanistan?
My comments have in no way suggested that we go with open arms to the Taliban, but they have criticised your attitudes to those who are not members of the Taliban and disagree with the Taliban teachings, because to me it seems that you put all Muslims into the same bag.

Maybe I shall go read my socialist times magazine and stare at my poster of Che Guevara.

All you are doing is refuting what I have said then using NuLabour spin to make it look acceptable and me look like some skinhead. No I am just a man concerned at the ludicrous way politcal correctness has eroded common sense in this country. The lunatics truly have taken over the asylum.

Have you heard of Antifa? You are a prime candidate.

For those just joining, I made a statment comparing the treatment of British soldier to a Muslim woman. There was no race issue there I was highlighting the hideous rise of political correctness. You, predictably have tried turning this into a race issue. If I wanted I could accuse you of the same as you state how every tom dick and harry in this country are peace and law abiding while Evil Whitey is out to get them all.

FYI Stephen Lawrence's "killers" were never proven guilty in a Court of Law. Find me the evidence to suggest whoever is responsible is responsible and you can prover what the best lawyers in the country couldn't.

All the members of our forces who are Muslim? Hmmm mate i'll assure you there aren't too many and there are certainly not many out in the the Middle East.

Islam cannot and has not intergrated within our society. The believe that women are suberviant and should be covered up, that gays should be executed, that non Muslims are inferior human beings. Did you see the two Despatches programmes?

I remind you again of 7/7, and of the numerous exmaples of "British" Muslims caught fighting in Afghan.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... cents.html

Yeah, really embraced our British way of life and culture. Or how about the protests held when the Danish newspaper had the gall to print a few cartoons?

http://l.yimg.com/g/images/spaceball.gif

I'm not going to let you sit there and gob off about how everything is great and wonderful in enriched Britain cos' it aint, then at the same time accuse me of racism and accuse the great British public of being inherently anti immigrant. We have been brought to this point.

Milliband et al have never ever had a real job or struggled to pay the bills. They went straight from Uni into cushy politics jobs. They only interact with politicians and look at everything from a "in theory" point of view.

Yes, you do go stare, although I don't see how you can read A Communist Manifesto at the same time.

What the ???

Am i missing something here? The way i read it, GGHT simply made a comment on the state of our countries mad drive to be politically correct.

Is this not the case? Whilst stereotyping Muslims is totally wrong i do not believe this is what he was doing. Was he not making the point that in this climate our country feels more at ease abusing its own Service personels rights than it does those of a Muslim (that all be it in the very minority, DOES bread terrorists amoungst its fundamentalists).

If a hotel were to refuse entry to a Muslim, for whatever reason, even if it was legitimate it would most likely cause an 'Racist' uproar, they would labelled as a 'Racist' organisation. Why is it ok to discriminate against a British Soldier?

Is this not the line you were thinking along GGHT?

For the record i believe 'Neither' should be dicriminated against, either NEGATIVELY OR POSITIVELY.

Wrong out!

Read the whole bloody thread before I get really hacked off!

There was no neeed at all to comment on women in Bhurkas (SPELLING, I KNOW)

A totally racist and sexist no-brains comment ..... and now the chickens are coming home to roost!

Well, boo, bloody hoo!

He didnt have to say 'women in Bhurkas', it just so happens he did, he could just have easily used an other description of dress that would portray an other persons religion. I believe the description was irrelevent to his point. I believe his point was clear, that being that we as a country are all too willing to go above and beyond when it comes to trying not to be percieved as racist towards other religions for fear of being labelled racist.

Was GGHT being intentially racist or sexist? I think not.

I can see how his comment may have been taken out of context, and i believe that is what has happened.

Flighty, you clearly feel otherwise.Fine.

Out of context? My backside!

His contribution was out of context and IMHO blatantly racist and sexist.

Dwarfy mate you are quite correct but in keeping with the loony Left anything other than complete silence on the issue will result in racism/sexism/whateverism smears.

All the best fella.

I guess this is where the problem of communcating on the forums comes into play. We do not know each other, we do not know how this 'comment' was made and in what vain.

GGHT, were you being either Racist or Sexist with that original comment?

Or was it purely used, all be it some what naively, as an example?

If my description of what he was trying to portray is in fact what he WAS trying to convey, then it is correct(not his opinion, the fact that i had correclty described what his opinion was), it is NOT about opinions.

Only GGHT can tell me whether my description of his opinion is correct or not, because it was his opinion i was describing.

Nobody's opinion is more valid than the next persons, but people can be correct or incorrect when interpreting someones opinion.
