Competiton been run by ZOO magazine which I was emailed from the RM website. Don't know if anyone is interested:
Dear Baz,
Did you know that Zoo magazine have launched their challenge to find the Man of the Year? Naturally, they came to the Royal Marines to set the standard and now men across the country are signing up to show they're man enough to tackle the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre.
If you've already been using our Get Fit to Apply training tool, you've got a big advantage. You already know that it takes commitment and dedication to get Commando fit - so with our expertise behind you, why not get out there and show the world what you're made of?
The ultimate winner of the Zoo Man of the Year title will win £3,000 worth of must-have gadgets and a unique opportunity to take a flight in a Royal Navy jet.
If you think you're a contender, get on the site and get ready to give the rest a real run for their money.

When I tried it, it was down, so persevere,
Baz

As advised will keep trying...
I don't know if the errors are due to server failures/unexpected demand or whatever...
I'll try to find clarification from offical RM site..
I like to be precise in things (failing precise a near miss will do.. much like our American cousins...)
It's just that I couldn't find anything on the Zoo website about it...
Happy to be wrong...

Agreed, seems to be some kind of crap recruitment drive. Undermines the Corps in a way, some bloke thinking since he passed this the rest of the 32 weeks and the career afterwards would be a piece of piss. Which it obviously is not.The only way to be a Royal Marines Commando is to join up and do the course as far as I am concerned. All the other crap is a waste of time.
