A Word About Effort

Post by fodd »

Life is a chance to discover your limits,
Try everything with an open mind- perfect yourself.
Accept pain, discipline and suffering as part of the game.
Pain is the only way to know when your nearing your best
Approaching your limits.

We place no value on anything we get cheaply - the more effort, the more discomfort ,the more hardship - THE HAPPIER WE ARE.

Effort is the original contribution we make to this world.

Everything else is given to us:

HEALTH
STRENGTH
TALENT
AND ABILITIES OF ALL SORTS

Whether spiritual, mental or physical
Effort is the only element we can aadd
A sense of humour allows us to tolerate the intolerable
Accept the unacceptible . to bear the unbearable.

IT REDUCES LIFE TO THE GAME IT IS.

I was given this when i was in hunter coy it just sums up the commando ethos.

hope this gives eveyone a bit of inspiration like it did to me.

Wise words, the above is especially true.

During my brief stay at CTCRM we were told that the shell in the open square of the PRMC/Hunter block is there to be rung by recruits returing to there troop in order to inspire others, any more info on this Fodd ?

EG When the tradition started and where the shell came from Etc.

It's bang on.

To earn that green lid you have to work at it every day and then still do it once you have cracked it. Nice one Feelyarse! :D

It is not an easy task in any way shape or form people. Come the end of your Commando training you will be shagged out and ready to say goodbye to CTCRM. But over time you will find yourself going back for your JCC, SCC and ACC and once more you will have to dig out blind to get them stripes or that warrant officer crown on your right arm.

the brass shell was put in hunter company's square by captain Jim Bonney RM when someone from hunter passes out of CTC they go back to hunter on their kings squad pass out and smack the shell it is a tradition that dates back to the 2nd world war where men that had passed out would go and ring the shell to show recruits they had passed out and that it was possible.

hope you all enjoyed it

Great

Post by Ste Preece »

Fodd: Great words mate.

I remember the words that helped me get through basic training. They were:

Time, Distance, Effort.

The amount of time it takes to cover the distance and the effort required to acheive this. The effort was always 100% and I used to try and beat any previous times.

I see physical pain as a weakness leaving the body!!

Humour, undoubtedly helps in difficult situations and helps you to keep your chin up when the chips are down. If I remember rightly we called it Cheerfulness in the Face of Adversity.

Cheers
