Knife culture:-(

Post by mfat_man »

Like many people I am getting a fed up with these youths getting killed for really no reason than perhaps being in the wrong place at at the wrong time.. Is that a reason to get killed? (uck that!

Give you an example. Yesterday I was on a train 3 youths came in the carriage with a mobile phone playing really loud music, as there were 3 i had to stay quiet although I will normally get involved if absolutely necessary. If you have met some of the MFAT nutters then you are scared of no-one! 8)

Anyway, is the problem we can't say anything for fear of being attacked? Do kids carry knives because of the fear of attack? Does all the violence in films/TV affect this situation?

Views please....

Some kids carry knives for fear of attack, some carry knives so that their friends will say "Oooh, he's got a knife... hard man." Its a real shame that carrying a weapon seems to instantly elevate the dregs of society above their feckless peers.

I carry a Leatherman so that when someone's tiny screw falls out of their glasses, I can fix it for them. Also makes a handy addition to the weight of a fist, if neccessary. :o

Yes and the general rule with Mob/Martial arts is attack is the last option and you get the feeling with some of these little *ankers that they can't wait to impress their mates.

Even a cut to the leg or arm can hit an artery and then the 'anker looking at a 5-10 year stretch, silly people.

A lot of teens carry knives to either look 'cool' or because they are influenced by their peers. I honestly think it's time the old gov finds a better way to deal with out-of-control youths, as these 'Anti-Social Protection Orders' are seemingly doing *uck all.

Don't you think some of this you can't tell any kid off these days without the fear of attack, if you do attack in defence you will end up in fron the the beek!

Scanners at schools are a good idea but this lad was attacked outside the school gates :(

We've got a scheme running at my sports centre which is run in partnership wit hthe ocal college. Basicly they have a small group of lads wit hsevere behavioural issues and once a week they come down to play footbal at our centre. We've had a few problems but usually after they've had a good session they're jolly and walk out without the swagger.

So my solution is to get the b*stards running. Forget medication, forget ASBO's get them into sports and get them young. What i'd like to see are a number of specialist schools focussing on sports. My high school was an ordinary comprehensive but we gained additional funding as we had a specialisation in music. Extending this to sports wouldn't be too difficult and if they don't have the facilities then they can make use local sports centre.

I'd also like to see an increased number of cadet units attatched to schools.

Great shame about this kid, Edgware is but a stones throw away from me and it makes me wonder if i ever passed him on the streets.

Yeah but that'd only treat the symptom.

Its a shame that it has happened. Whatever happened to just using your fist's, that was the norm in my younger days and still is now where i live. Even the so called 'chavs' etc dont carry knives or weapons up here, its just seen as cowardly not 'cool'. It amazes me how the attitudes to this can be so different :-?

What next, arresting people for ‘drive by shouting’? I think an enforced sterilization plan would be far more effective.

Sounds like a plan, any chavy little scumbag scrotum headed tool with a knife gets his nuts lopped off with it.

The question of why someone would carry a knife is fairly simple...

A knife can cause a lot of damage, easily. Also, if you whip out a knife, it'll sure as he'll make someone think twice about starting something with you. So for your average chav/ned, it's good to have for making you look hard.

Unfortunately, this combined with their brain power can be a lethal combination. The rush of blood in a fight, the feeling of wanting to impress people they hang about with and their general fcukwittyness could all lead to them using a weapon when they don't really need to.

The problem is "unless you have a good understaning of the human anatomy, a knife attack and its consequences are random" (some quote I heard on the news)

Something has to be done. It will only get worse, not better.

fcukwittyness
I do believe you have invented a new word.
We here don't really have a problem with knives.
We all have guns. :o
