SAS

Post by richard_jn »

Hi,
Can anyone give me any info on the SAS. Things like there recruitment process, pay, promotion opportunity, the kind of work exactly that they do, length of service, and anything else really. If there is any website with the info on if you could give be the link thats great.
I checked out the MOD special forces site and it doesnt seem to give much info on it.
Thanks.

Welcome richard_jn. The following is not a flame, let me make that clear.
But the questions you ask may be answered at least in part by using the search function on this site, as nickosx pointed out.
Certain subjects require that you do an amount of research prior to asking questions. So. Search, here, using Google, whatever.
I do not think you intended it as such, however for your first post to be about the SAS in such terms may be raising some hackles.
Search and read, or better yet perhaps, if your interest is high, consider joining and going for selection to find out.

Again this is not a flame.

Ive searched the internet with google etc and have found nothing. After taking advice on this forum I checked out some of the previous topics and found quite alot of the info I was after.

Theres still something that isnt clear though.
What is the route to getting into the SAS?

Join the BBC. Get a part in Eastenders. Volunteer for a frontal lobotomy. Then go for it...Ultimate Force. It's all true. Honest.

Or join the Army and apply.

Either is good.

lol.
Yeh Im sure either of those routes will work!!

What I mean is more like if you want to do it, what trade in the army would you go in as, would you go in as an officer or do neither of this things matter?

Or is a better route in by first joining the royal marines?

Seriously Richie - if you don't have the first clue already about who to get into the regiment, its probably not for you.

Here's a clue:

-Join armed service

-Pass basic

-Wait a few years.

-Get your chit in.

-Probably fail (no disrespect, but its true!)

OR

Apply for TA selection.

hi all, just a quickie, you can't join 23/21 as a civvi anymore, unless your on the next course that starts in 3 weeks. they require you have passed phase 2 training with a length of service(not sure how long this is)

hope this helps
