Hi big boy :D

Welcome to the forum.

As long as your not a complete big girls blouse you should be fine. You certainly don't need to be physically hard as nails or particulary aggressive.
Holding troop alone will not really do that much to increase your strength, but it's well worth you attending to get some advice from the PTI's there, it will also allow you to gauge wether or not your suitable for the RMR.
What exactly do you think you will struggle with regarding upper body strength ?
How many press ups, pull ups and sit ups can you do at the moment ?

Rich.

I can do 50 sit ups in 2 minutes and Im not too worried about the pull ups, I can only do a couple at the moment but Ive never done them before so i reckon it will come with practise. My main problem is the press ups, Im only pushing 20 at the moment  which is obviously way below whats required. The new intake does not begin till september so hopefully a summer of hard work would get me there. I was interested in whats involved in holding troop, obviously I dont want to make abad first impression.

However, although I am a running junkie and have completed half marathons and marathons in decent times my main worry is upper body strength and aggression. Although extrtemely determined I would not consider myself particularly 'Hard' or aggressive. Is this likely to be a problem in RMR? Also could anyone tell me what holding troop involves? I need to improve my upperbody strength but am not sure if it is best to work on my own for a while or to join holding troop.

Cheers
Bigdog,

I'm afraid Lympstone detachment don't run a holding troop. Being a strong runner puts you in a better stance for getting your lid through RMR than most other blokes. Gaining upperbody strength will be easier that trying to eventually run the distance with kit and gives you all the leg strength you'll ever need.

I by no means had any real upper body strength when I started but have all the strength from running I need. Just doing straight forward circuits (press ups, sit ups, etc) will give you enougth upper body strength.

Check out the Training thread for some circuits that should do the trick. Thre of the best are here  http://www.mfat.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... c&start=45
