Army welcomes heavy soldiers

A interesting little article in the sixth sense newspaper today, page 15 top right.

'' Weight limits designed to screen out unfit Army applicants are excluding some of the strongest candidates and will be relaxed the MoD says.

Under previous regulations men with a body mass index (BMI) of over 28 were barred from joining the military.

The threshold has been extended to 32 - two points above the World Health Organisation's definition of obesity.

An MoD spokesman said the decision was a reflection of 'the fact that the BMI is not a perfect science.''

Seems like a good idea, especially for all us tubby recruits.

Can't say I've ever had a fatty 'block my lane' anywhere, especially not in a swimming pool!

Quakity Brian, yeah Howardbliss, hate it, fatties and kids, oh, and the pensioners blue rinse brigade ladies breaststroke champions , who look at you funny for belting past them cos your trying to get fit to join the forces.

Eventually found a good pool though that has a few people who also swim at a decent pace.
