I think Sticky Blue provided the most accurate explanation of what the medical consists of. Although I was not questioned on either my cycle or contraception. The doctor I saw was very abrupt and blunt (I was overweight and needed to excercise more. So I hope your not easily offended, although I dont think that is their intention and I have been advised that the docs at Halton are even less pleasant. . .
Hope your not too shy, coz you will have to strip to the waist, clean underwear a must . . . !

I know that the AFCO medicals are nice and easy, I've had two for the navy its just on the medical sheet you get from the RAf theres alot of medical type things with 'abnormal' or 'normal' check boxes next to them, so I was just wondering are they there for certain trade/commission types, for a more "in-depth" medical at halton (pardon the pun) or some other reason

All airmen/women get a further medical when they arrive at Halton...mostly because they can't X-Ray you at the AFCO and it pays to get a second opinion on the civvie doctors who have contracts at the AFCOs.
For Officer, the Flying Branches have a much more comprehensive medical once they pass at OASC.
Most Branches and Trades have differing medical standards that are dependant upon the nature of the work to be carried out. Things like eyesight, hearing, colour vision etc will vary. Asthma varies - NEVER for flying branches or NOT IN LAST 5 YEARS for non-flying branches. Other things like long-term injuries, epilepsy etc are pretty standard.
