I've always felt that way,Rob,the Oath taken on enlistment is for life, and in my case to serve King George V1 and his Heirs and successors,no mention of poxy politicians.

Taking up where Wully left off ... I had to visit Camberley,Surrey today & heard on the news that the M3 had been closed, due to "an incident" .. this was at 0830,on trying to leave Camberley, for home .. a journey of normally 30 mins max,I found that all surrounding roads were jammed solid ... as the M3 was still closed at 1400.

The "incident" transpired to have been caused by a brick, thrown from a bridge over the M3,by persons unknown at the cab of an Articulated Lorry .. sadly the lorry driver died.A Murder investigation is now under way.

The whole point of this sick tale being to illustrate that people will & do virtually anything they want ... as they know there is no effective deterrent ... they can literally get away with murder. :fist:

If they find the w**ker(s) responsible, it will be blamed on their social deprivation etc. Slapped wrist and a nice holiday to rehabilitate......at the taxpayers expense

We have been tied in a very large discussion on leatherneck on the politcally correct name of "Ex-Marines" and have come up with this, Marines with a civilian MOS and duty station.
One of the 1st Sgts came in with a very interesting point of view that I like. Try going to your mother and call her Ex-Mother you will get the same response from her as you will from a Marine if you call them Ex-Marine.

I`ve never called myself an ex marine, if anything, I`m a former Royal Marine, and nothing less. Nobody, but nobody, will understand OUR Corps, like we do, unless thet have been a part of it. Afterall, it is a very select club, it can`t be inherited, bought or stolen........it has to be earnt, and as we all do the same to get the coveted, we all end up in this extended family.

Also, whilst taking part in the Commando Challenge last september, I contacted CTC, SO3 Corporate Comms, and asked if it would be possible to take the team round CTC. No Problems Royal, was the reply, unfortunately, on the sunday, the SNCO, who was to accompany us round CTC, was sick on shore, BUT SO3 who was running the briefings on woodbury, belled CTC guardroom, and had one of the guard escort us round. Thanks Royal, all the team know a little bit more of why I`m so Corps pished, why I take no Shyte from anyone who slags off MY Corps, its been a great ride when i was in the Corps, Like most, I`ve had my ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I still love the Corps.

I shall have a quiet wet or two tonight, to toast the memory of fallen commrades, known, or not.............cheers.

If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me, I will now sign myself as..........

LCpl R.M. (Retd). And why not!

Best of luck to the lads in the thick of it!

Blir states yesterday and I quote:
"These were brave men who faced the risk and had the courage to serve.....we owe them an enormous debt of gratitude"

I would hope that he will look after their N.O.K, but I doubt it! and for all those who come home, a handsom pay rise.

Did I read that the average pay is £6.45 per hour, these guys should not put thier nose outside the door for less than £20 an hour1
They (polititions) have the gaul to talk of Pride, they don't know the meaning of the word...

okay, when all this is over, we are all going to demonstrate. lets campaign for a pay cut to all politicians down to a rate they actually deserve. actually, lets not stop there, lets bargain for a few of them to be flogged as well.

then, all the money saved on useless politicians can be put towards a nice new pay rise for HM services.

good plan? lets march.

One more video of that two faced little sh*t B'lair gushing his drivel ref the 8 lads tragically killed and I'm going to throw up!

And Glenda Jackson should pi** off as well!

The only people it affects are there families and comrades.

Gushing their drivel to as many TV cameras as possible showing us that they are caring people. They make me sick!

I have it on extremely good authority that on Friday,Labour MP & all round gronk Glenda Jackson, stood up in "The House" & said " ... those men died needlessly" ... quite what she meant by that is unclear but my source tells me that there was a "collective intake of breath" from the Great & the Good, before she came under attack from all sides ... including "Buff" Hoon, who invited her to go to Plymouth & make her point to the families of those Royal Marines ... I understand that she declined the invitation. !

I only wish I was able to believe that "Buff" was sincere in his condemnation & that his Boss was as sincere in his praise ... sadly,I believe neither. :fist:

I post this in the true hope that it will not cause further anguish to the families concerned but to demonstrate how our Politicians really view the efforts of our Servicemen & Women ... if any hurt has been caused, then I apologise without reservation.

Watch this space for further revelations ... as & when I get to hear of them !!

I may have officially "retired" 10 years ago but I'm neither an ex-Marine or a former Marine - I am still a Royal Marine, just no longer serving, after all the Queen still pays me every month I just don't have to turn to or wear a uniform any more. Even if I hadn't stayed in till pension, like many of the contributors to these pages, I'd still be a Royal Marine! No-one can ever take it away from us - we were there! :D
