As far as I know, the residency requirements are routinely waived for other ranks and are only a sticking point for officers. However, I'm unsure how they regard commonwealth residency versus living elsewhere.

Your best bet would be to contact the overseas recruiting office at 011 44 207 937 3493. The overseas contact for Royal Marines is Warrant Officer Blackwood. He should be able to answer all of your questions.

commonwealth citizens can join as other ranks but not as officers. As for residence I believe they want you to have lived in the Uk for five years or in a commonwealth country all your life, however your best bet is to call a Rm recruiting office and ask them. (I am in the process of applying but I am Canadian and always have been so I'm really not tpo sure about your having lived in the US) good luck whatever route you choose!

I meant Indian as from the Indian subcontinent. Lived in the USA since i was 2 though but never applied for citizenship
I thought that you had to be a US citizen to serve in the army,do I understand correctly that you've already signed up?
For those who have had to defend it, liberty has a flavor the protected will never know

Good thinking Gearjammer351

To serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment part of the US Army you have to be a US Citizen. To serve in other branches you do not but to be ranger you do. so Navspecwar78 are you chatting shit?

This board is extremely useful for people joining the marines however if you are wasting time you should piss of and go and play toy soldiers with your friends.

Whoa there sonny, I dont remember reading language like that anywhere in this forum, especially from an "OD" (look it up). Anyone and everyone are welcome to post on this site without someone giving them stick.
We are all chuffed that you passed your PRMC but that does'nt give you the right to be Damned rude!
Two items of advice : Get some Manners and GET SOME TIME IN before you Gob off! You'll get both when you join for real... :D

Mike put it down to nervous excitement, Joe's joining Lympstone on Monday. They'll get him, so we don't have to worry at all.
Have a good one Joe, enjoy the course, it'll be cold, but a tough young hombre from the wilds of Wycombe won't worry about a little thing like ice and snow,............. would you? :P
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.
