Living Away

Post by Beasta »

Has anybody got any experience (im sure you all have) in living away from girlfriends/ wives when in the RM.
If I get in my girlfriend will more than likely stay in Liverpool. Does anyone have any experience of this situation. Did the relationship last?
You get the general jist of the thread.....bit hard to explain....

Be very very grateful of advice

I don't honestly think that there is 1 answer for that sort of question because everyone is differant, best thing to do is analyse your relationship with your girlfriend and make a choice based on how strong it is (sorry to say girls come and go).

I too am concerned about living away from family and friends, with my girlfriend all we are going to do is try if it dosen't work then at least I can say I tried, I do love my girlfriend but I don't think that I'll base my future career prospects on my relationship not at this age (21). I'm only young anyway I've wanted to join the RM since I was at school, so I think if my relationship is strong enough it will last.

Where abouts in Liverpool you from Beasta? :-?

antelope I think your right, some relationships will benefit from the time apart and some will not, it all depends on how strong it is and how trusting the participants are.
I live in Walton in Liverpool, about 15 mins walk from the Aintree Racecourse, I may run round it when im training for the PRMC. :D

I only lived there for a short while about 3-4 yrs, I was young when we moved down because the work in the north was bad pay and hard to find in the 80's so my parents moved, it's a nice area where I live.

I'm not in at the moment, going to the careers office on Tuesday to sign all the papers and get a date for my medical and all that..

Hope the shoulder is OK. What exactly have you done to it?

Not too sure, hopefully the doctors know though since they're operating.
I used to play a lot of football as a goalkeeper, started getting pains in my shoulders went to physio and that didn't work. Went to see a specialist and he said something about the ball joint not sitting correctly and inflaming the tendons. Simple operation just to tighten the tendons up at the back of the shoulder to stop the excessive movement. Or so they tell me. Gotta wait another 3 or 4 months for the NHS to come good...
You well into training then?

I've been training since I was about 14 football, martial arts usual boy's stuff, then when I left school I started working as fitness instuctor/personnal trainer, and started to focus my training on getting strong and fit.

At the moment I run 3 times per week do strength training 5 days a week and long distance bike riding or long walks with packs I also do a martial arts class once a week for about 2 hours and sometimes coach a local football team and join in. I've been doing this type of training for about a month now. Before I was well into all the bodybuilding.

I'm hopefully going to be ready to go on my PRMC by new year. Fingers Crossed :)

If your shoulder is bad what you doing at the moment?

The pain in my shoulder is not too bad so I can train on it, its only when it turns in certain angles..
Training wise I do circuit training twice a week and I play football (not in goal though)...
Work wise I work for an IT company which is boring me to the edge of insanity....I get annoyed cos if it wasn't for the shoulders id have a date now and could be looking forward to a gettin out of here...
You sound like your just about ready to go fitness wise, you should walk it

Take it easy on that shoulder, don't try rushing anything.

I work for a Telecoms company at the momnet selling it's doing my head in, I've been in sales for about 2 and half years now, I was really good at it when my heart was there but now my heart is somewhere else I hate it.

I think I'm ready on the fitness side, but from reading other postings and talking to a few people not always being super fit and strong is enough, there is the mental aspect and grit, determination and the never give up attitude no matter what they tell you to do is what they will look at aswell apparently!!!! :-?

So how old are you? and are you a blue or red? :D
