Recce units

Post by chris-bristol »

Hello all,

I've noticed when browsing old posts on here multiple reference to recce regiments or units. This has sparked my interest, there are probably a number of army regiments I have ignored in my research because their names didn't sound familiar etc. I know the light dragoons and i believe the qdg have a recce orientated role but can anyone tell me the other regiments who fill this role.

Cheers

Mate in short QDG then the Light Dragoons are the only ones worth bothering with.

Household Cavalry are good mate. Worked with them in Afghan. PLus you get to be in either Windsor or Knightsbridge, dont know what Windsor is like but Knightsbridge would be a mega posting...social life would come first over duties obviously. :drinking:

HCR is the guy to speak to.

LD's are pretty good as are HCR we all have our banter as all units do,9th/12th are a little iffy. Its a bloody good job with lots of scope for different stuff. They do bang out a load of OP tours.Tank regiments do use scimitar and they are in recce troops however without boring you with the details there is a massive difference in roles.
