II Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment
II Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment
This is the Squadron I would like to join if I pass my PGAC and obviously my TG course. However i'm sure I will be asked about it if I say this in my interview. I have searched high and low but I can't find out any information on the Pre Parachute course you must complete before joining. I'm pretty sure it's not like the one the Para's have to do, but could be wrong.
Any information would be most appreciated

Try this site - http://www.rafregiment.net/raf_regiment_video_page.htm
There is a link to a Pre Para Video. You'll need broadband as it's pretty big, excellent sound track though.
Enjoy.

good vid and mega link! my mate shot some of the films on the link!
I dont think all the tests on pre-para were shown but may be wrong. Iv done p-coy in the past and was on course to do reg's pre-para till my eye injury forced me out but I have a feeling with the reg its more based on individual effort ovewr team effort.

Fraid I don't have the latest timings, and it's a while since I did mine
I'm fairly sure there was a system a while back where you could fail a test and get a red card. If you passed the next test you could give the red card back, 2 reds and you were off the course. Nowadays I'm fairly sure you have to pass every test.
Gunner75 is spot on, Pre Para is probably the only course you will ever do, well apart from one, where you do not work as part of a team. Everything is on individual effort, especially test week.
A good planning figure for tabbing is 1 mile every 10 minutes with 40lbs, helmet and rifle.
I'm working away at present without regular internet access, when I get back I'll try and find out the latest gen, and also if they are content for it to be published on a public forum.
Edited to include - Length 3 weeks, Loc's Honington, Peak District and Brecon.

HMK there are several members on here who are still serving RAF. Send them a pm and I`m sure they`d be more than willing, etc.
