PRMDC

Post by nachtachrach »

oh man, I just came back after going through that course, and then the PRMC. And man oh man, it was awesome.

We did climbing, abseiling, sailing, speed-boating, banana-boating, and we did the death jump. that was awesome. also, we did lots of PT and got quite fit. all 13 of us on the course passed the PRMC.

If you fail your PRMC and you are given a chance to go on the PRMDC, take it, it's bloody fantastic.

everyone, it seems dispises PRMDC....i dont know why..

maybe its cause they get payed the same as a Nod even though they failed getting in...while the people who passed are getting thrashed and trained there off power boating and so forth...Seems the corps really are short of men for this scheme to continue!

Harry,

It stands for Potential Royal Marines Development Course. It was brought in, if I remember correctly, to get more guys into the Corps.

The idea being that there are a fair few bods who only just fail PRMC but if told to come back in x amount of months may never do so for whatever reason. They are given the option of a PRMDC (2 weeks long???) during which they will work on their phys & do various other stuff which the first poster (nachtattatrahahchch?????) mentions. After the 2 weeks, they redo PRMC and are then straight into training I believe.

It's quite unpopular as it's seen as a soft option. There are many guys in training who failed PRMC first time but subsequently put a lot of effort in during their own time to get fitter and pass the second time (I've got a mate who falls into this category).

I got this info from researching for my final year uni project last year, so it may be a bit out of date. Incidentally, the impression I gained from the staff at CTCRM was that they weren't too pleased with it either!

I wonder what percentage of people who go through PRMDC also spend time in Hunter and how that compares with those who enter training without having attended PRMDC.
