Does the British military ask if you have military experience in any armed force?

Do they look into your records and call up your old CO's for a reference?

cheers

So are you saying that having a crim record and being a delinquent drop kick is a prerequisite for service in the British Army?

It is your remark saying that you had not done any thing that caused me to say you had led a dull life and no one mentioned any thing about a crimal record

A criminal record?? you would be trusted in the blocks, And by saying that you have not been caught yet suggests that your willing to carry on being underhanded. I think you would go down about as well as a lead balloon.

Yes they do mate. It's on the "Interest" form and the main application form. Askes if you have served with Army, Navy / Marines, RAF, or any others i.e cadets sea cadets etc.

If you have served in this country or even in another (as you are from Oz) I'd mention it. Saves being found out later!

I'm a bit worried that it might hold me back if I applied for the British Army. I may be joining the ADF in the next few months and the job is 4-6 years. I don't know what state the UK military will be in by then in terms of recruiting. I hear they're inundated now, who knows in years to come they may change the laws to severely restrict how many overseas applicants can get in. If they see that I've had a military career they may say 'Well to be honest there are alot of people who are trying to get in , you've had a military career back in Australia so its just easier and fair if you go back home and re-enlist.' Or may cause unnecessary delays.

If i was to slip it by them on the forms, how/would they find out about it later? Being in the military isn't a criminal offence so there is no reason why a Police check would uncover it.

I think you are making a big thing about nothing, join the ADF do your time and then see if you want to join the British Army. Chances are you will either be fed up with the Military way of life, or you will be established on a career path in the ADF.

As to "lying" about your previous service that would be stupid..

Here's a crazy idea that might just work.

Why don't you just apply properly, filling in the forms correctly and providing correct and honest answers, like you're supposed to?
