well this is it i mean maybe the guy who lost his resperator got smacked in the nose was a bit far but apart from that i expect if you mess around and don't correct you're mistakes you will get pushed around and beasted to f@#k, what made me laugh was when he had 11 days left to get out or he would be in there for four years, could you imagin if they denined his discharge letter and they found out he was a reporter while he was in his battlion, he'd get ripped a new arsehole. Yeah why would you're Cpl pee on you're boot kinda starnge :-? . my mates in the rifles and he's training at the mo and he's told me a few things like getting grbbed by scruff but pretty standard really! i'm off to trainig in November bit more nervous now lol should be 8) though.

im off there in november 16th, dont care if i get hit its just a bit of shit im willing to put up with, but it is against the law to hit the recruits no matter how much they deserved it, i personally think it shows how the Corporals have a lack of control over their aggression, i thought the army was supposed to teach how to control your anger (controlled aggression) but i still wanna join!

Undercover Soft Shites

Post by bugalboy »

Its not these poor new recruits who are being made out to be the crying soft shites, its the complete pricks who are throwing there weight around who need a battering - just cos they can! It all stems back to being abused by there dads with the odd too many fat lip after he had come rolling in from home mortal. With points to prove to themselves and the parents that never loved them as kids, they feel they have really made the big time whilst they are wading into some poor soul. They are that thick, unskilled and sick of being turned down from everyother job, this seems by the best way to get out all this pent up anger and feeling of complete worthlessness. Scumbags.

Any comments?

Have you been a Phase One Instructor????you seem to know exactly what makes these guys Tick?
Whilst not condoning bullying of any kind, some recruits can really push a Instructor to a point where he snaps!
And before the backlash I WAS a phase one instructor for two years and never hit any of my recruits, although I was punched by one of the little C**ts in a pub after he had passed out, as he had something to prove obviously?

mozza, what do you think would happen if someone was out in theatre and they lost their respirator, and then there was an NBC attack? Would be a damn sight worse than a punch on the nose! You absolutely have to be able to get your respirator on inside 9 seconds, how long do you think it would take if you had to go looking for it first?
I bet that one recruit will never forget/lose his respirator ever again...

no i completely agree with you i just think maybe he could of gone a diffrent way about it, i mean accidents do happen and you're there to learn and fault will happen prevented or not its just a way of life and getting a punch in the nose is a bit extreme if u ask me, a beasting, shook around a bit, a smack on the head or helmet is fair but a punch in the nose i feel is a bit far. But if it happend to me i'd just take it and probs never forget to do it again!

At the end of the day these lads are joining to go over on ops . If you can't take a bit of a slap and shout every now and again how the hell do they think there going to go to war and kill or be killed.

As a Royal Marines recruit I don't know what Army training is like but I can say this:

In our training we get punished, beasted, shouted at, criticized, ignored... and it all goes on to channel our efforts in the right directions towards being better at what we need to do.
The "beastings" are really just extra physical training (albeit often in the mud - an environment we need to be accustomed to anyway!), you have to grin and bear it then laugh it off later.

I've had days when I've felt like the B-S would never end but I've never once been treated unfairly or abused in a way that detracts from the end goal.

My concern about this programme is that although it might be exposing some unacceptable behaviour, it is suggesting that it provides a fair insight of Army training that viewers will take on board as fact - and this is bad press for the forces who right now are doing their best without the manpower and resources they need!

I read today that the bloke might have to serve his minimum term as his "compassionate reason" for leaving was fraudulent.
Ha ha.

If he is made to serve his minimum who gets to pay the tab?
The BBC or the British taxpayer?

Silly me that's why you pay for a TV license.
It's about time Auntie Beeb realised the difference between competition and coercion.
If they cannot compete with the commercial channels then they should simply be allowed to go bust.
I don't pay for a TV channel in the US(Apart from the porn ones)So why should they pick up a huge subsidised paycheck for re-runs and drivel?

I'm sure the vast majority of Army instructors do a perfectly fine job & act professionally.
But as in any job, there will always be a few that over-step the mark & abuse their authority. It's human nature. Some people go a little crazy when given a bit of power.
I still feel punching a recruit in the face is wrong.
I feel instructors should have had enough training & experience to know how to deal with recruits, & get the best out of them, without resorting to punching them.

I should imagine instructors have a difficult & frustrating job, constantly having to deal with intakes of new recruits, with several probably being lazy & irritating, back-chatting staff.
On the docu it said one recruit had even hit a Corporal. Totally out of order. I feel that recruit should have been kicked out immediately.

You seem to have an axe to grind, Bugalboy??
Were you a recruit who got on the wrong side of your instructors by being a mong, or have you genuinely seen staff physically abusing recruits?

Yes if you mess up badly you will be punched in the face and no it is not some crime against humanity and it is quite rare.
Also by saying that the recruits had to go to the med center this documentary gives the impression that these poor lambs were left battered to a pulp and had to be put on a drip to survive. In fact I would bet that this is not the case, for some people a bump on the heat and a bloody nose is enough to warrant medical attention or perhaps a nice cushy biff chit.

In addition that recruit who hit a corporal just shows the abysmal standards of Kings div etc. I don't think anyone would even imagine doing that in para coy!!
