Eldest on aptitude/selection

Post by otter »

Just a quick one....whats the eldest anyone knows that have attempted apptitude/selection for the Reserves. Again not the regs as it isn't relevent.

(and I mean KNOWS, NOT my teacher's mate's, uncle's, dogwalker's, nephew said....etc etc!!)

From the proverbial horses mouth, (someone on the course) I have heard a 36yr old. Was this a special case??

cheers.

Officially the maximum age is 34, and that's only if you've got previous military experience.

I presume that you're asking because you are considering joining.
I've no idea if exceptions to the age limits can be made, but the worst they can say is no, so why not give them a ring?

A 35 year old man who was sitting next to me in a presentation was wondering exactly the same thing.

Hmmm strange.

Ask adj125 - I think it was him.

He was 45 when he started selection the first time. He got badged the same day he got his bus pass.

Hello mate,

Glad you got the prescription - I just get mine from a dodgy medic...

Off to BC tomorrow for a couple of weeks - come on up if you get bored!

Cheers,

Age etc.

I spoke with 23 a while ago. The upper age limit is fairly flexible to a point. There's no way they'll take you if you're too close to 40 though. Why? The para training (if you get that far). It's run by the RAF and 40 is the absolute maximum to get your wings.

age limit

Post by scooby64 »

Me again. I got the info about the max age to get your wings in a letter from 23. (I still have it). The OC was adamant that the RAF won't put anyone through their jumps who is over 40.
However, I 've just noticed 4 Para are taking recruits upto 44.
So I'm still none the wiser...
