Wolf 1 Can you name any of those units that use the Marksman badge as a weapons Instructor badge.

Yes you'll find that quite a few of the Armoured corps units do, I've also been with REME units that do the same.

Are you sure they were not crossed tanks or screwdrivers. :D
I have seen person's that have done the SA Instructors Course at Warminster wearing them, I'm not sure but I think it had something to do with the grades they got.

Wolf1 is correct if you look at the link the crossed rifles are marked as

"tactics and weapon traing instructor and rifle marksman"

I remember our skill at arms instructors wearing them in the Royal Armoured Corps.

Dave.mil

Thanks for the website link.

It was the crossed rifles on the 1984 Army Recruiting Poster that I seemed to remember seeing.

Incidently, are the other 'trade and proficiency badges' still in use?

I've seen crossed flags for siggys in infantry units and I think crossed spanners but could be wrong on that , I was lucky enough to wear the crossed rifles in the RAF but only for one year

crossed spanners...........I might be wrong but I think it's a class one REME tradesman. I saw a few wedgies(RE) wearing the shark wrestler badge Shallow water diver(diving helmet). I cant really think of many other trade or qualification badges that units wore on a regular basis.

All badges worn in the military have to be approved by the MOD, so there should be a chart that lists them all. The hunt is on to find it?

If you look at Dave Mils last post, the link in it shows two such posters.

I was wondering about sniper if i did not cut it for tank crew. So i have a question that i cannot seem to find out on the official website.

How does one become a sniper? Can you make a career out of being JUST a sniper?

For example how do they select snipers? Do you take a specific course? Do they choose you from your weapons drill scores? Must you be of a certain rank?
