Race2Recovery

Post by ZoneOneRadio »

Hi, if anyone's interested, I work for the Mayor Of London funded community radio station for Central London, ZoneOneRadio, and we've just interviewed Captain Tony Harris who a couple of years ago came to 20 metres away from the exploded wreckage of his vehicle in the middle of the Afghan desert. Nine months later he took the decision to have one of his legs amputated below the knee, and in January he is going to be competing in the Dakar - the most gruelling motor race in the world, as part of Race2Recovery. Here's the description of the team from their website:
Race2Recovery are a team of volunteers, racing to inspire those who are injured, disabled or facing adversity, by being the first team of predominantly injured servicemen to complete the formidable Dakar Rally in South America, January 2013.

We are doing this to raise money for a charitable cause, one chosen by the injured members of the team. It is a Help for Heroes project, the Tedworth House recovery centre in Wiltshire, where injured serviceman can receive every kind of support, forever.
Here's the link to the interview, if anyone wants to find out more: http://www.ZoneOneRadio.com/2012/10/new ... tthew.html

And, here's the link to the Race2Recovery site, if anyone wants to find out more about them: www.race2recovery.com/
